Machacek's Vancouver Giants sweeped the Chiliwack Bruins in the first series of the WHL playoffs. Machacek finished the first round with 3 goals and 1 assist for 4 points in 4 games.

Giants fan here, and I just hope you guys appreciate this kid. I'm assuming he will be in the AHL playoffs this year and so the Giants will really miss him next year. He works as hard as any player I've ever seen, skates well, hits with intensity, and has decent offensive skills. I had the chance to (quickly) meet him at the Memorial Cup last year and he is a great guy. IMO he's about 10-15 lbs away from being an NHL player, and within a few years you guys will be absolutely loving this kid.

I can't wait to see what Machacek does in Traverse City this year. He was our best player in the tournament last year.

I really hope he gets a solid look at this years camp. I expect him to be in the AHL for at least a year or too considering the quantity (not quality) of centers this team has. I have big hopes for this kid as a great checker.

Machacek is a winger. For most of his career, he has played RW, but played LW for most of this season.

I could very well see him stepping in sooner than we expect. If he does well enough at camp this year, I'd love to see him on the team next year (Because it sure as hell doesn't look like there are any good RWs left).

Anyone else been keeping tabs on this kid and Riley other than myself? Spencer is having a helluva season with the Wolves for a Rookie 3rd round pick.

38games
9 goals
11 assists
20 points
+12
4th on team in Points
5th on team in Goals

Anyone know who him and Riley are playing with?

Everyone. This duo has been paired with practically everyone in the lineup.

Best I saw was Holzapfel/Machacek with Kaip or Siddall.

I really like what Granato is doing in Chicago. Both of those guys seem to be playing very solid two way hockey right now. The Thrashers need more players who can bring that kind of game.

Spencer told me in December that's he's stayed mostly at RW this year, only occasionally at left.

That's great. I'm glad the Wolves moved him back to RW. We need those in Atlanta, so it's best to develop him there.

I am also one of the few. I think that if Waddell could evaluate talent, or just let Chevy do, the Thrashers and Wolves would be much better off!!

Perhaps things have fallen off recently, especially with some of the D callups and some D injuries, but Granto was making steak out of ground beef with Chicago for most of the 1st half.

Things would look a lot different if we gave Valabik, Oystrick, and Crabb back. You're in a developmental league and that's just something you're going to have to deal with.

Don't be surprised if we bring LaVallee up near the end of the season. And then Kulda next year. Possibly Machacek. The list goes on and on....

I had a chance to see Spencer play two games recently. He made a ton of mental errors in the first game (turnovers, failed to get the puck in deep, etc) but looked better in the 2nd game. Has a future as 3rd liner but I don't see much 2nd line potential there.

He can't be making all those mistakes in the NHL.

Based on my viewing of Machacek, I'd say he has high 3rd line potential, to average 2nd line potential.

Either way, he's what this team needs.

So, you just felt the need to reiterate what Falconer just said?

Learn to read, and stop drinking the haterade, it makes you look like an idiot.

I said that I DO think he has 2nd line potential. Falconer said that he thinks Machacek DOESN'T have 2nd line potential.

We didn't say the same thing at all.

That would be great. I haven't seen Machacek play since he left the Giants.
