Well whoever takes out Briere, then they should expect 25 games at least, but we all know the league would never have enough balls to actually suspend a player who doesn't wear a Flyer uniform, 25 games. But if it happens then the Flyers will just go after that teams' best player because that's what fans from opposing teams expect the Flyers to do.

Let's be serious, the Canadian media is running with this because it is a Flyers player who committed the offense. Dingbat, Nick Kypreos, is saying on Sportsnet that he expects Scott Parker to get only a couple of games for his cross-check on Dion Phaneuf. Now, if it had been a Flyers player, Kypreos would have been saying he should get at least 15 games. The Canadian media is the most hypocritical bunch when it comes to hockey. If Stevens was smart, he'd use this as motivation for his players, give them the old Freddie Shero speech, "it's us against the world boys!"

And yet we're the dunces. Go figure.

Update: Hartnell tried to kill Alberts.
I think each one of the Flyers that has kids will have to throw his firstborn son into a pit of fire for penance before this is over.

You're right. It is a SPORT. Perhaps YOU need a little perspective. Its just a SPORT and there is no room in it for stuff like this.

YOu may not think its a big deal, Im sure the people who's career and life are on the line when they get hit are. Im sure their family sitting at home watching on TV do.

I'm sorry, but that play was not going to jeopardize Albert's life, career, season, let alone more than a couple games

focusing on alberts getting slammed eases the pain of getting steamrolled by the bruins. if you focus on how tough you guys are you wont even have to worry how terrible your team looked in the actual hockey part of the game.

Oh boy, am I gonna get hell tomorrow at school. Even if it rains, I plan on donning a Flyers sweatshirt and getting ready for the shellshocking I'm gonna get. And it's pathetic because the Flyers only get attention when they lose or get a suspension.

"Right, so when did you football fans suddenly become interested in how the Flyers lost last night?"

>_>

Right now, it feels like the whole world is against us, that is, the Flyers and the fans. Frankly, I could care less. Bring...it...on...

? We're a better team than you and we lost a game. A 2 goal loss with an empty netter is not "steamrolled."

We had a lousy beginning to the game and it cost us. Your team had a 5 minute PP and didn't do a single thing. Steamrolled my ass!

So ridiculous, all of this. I have played hockey, and you definitely know when you are vulnerable. Alberts should have crouched his whole body. This is a contact sport, and Hartnell definitely was not trying to decapitate this guy. How many "pity" games will the Bruins get this time? Absurd.

you were heavily out played. you were not the better team tonight..thats the truth. rask played his second game and looked shaky otherwise you guys got 23 shots compared to 32 and i am sorry but your team didnt play good. its just one game but we came into philly and dominated the game.
at one point in the 3rd when the kessel line was out it stayed in the flyers zone for a good couple of minutes and the d couldnt even clear it. i call that out working the flyers and playing better. rookie goalie in net...another rookie hunwick on d had to step it up. 5-3 is a big win...considering the last game was close at 2-1.

its easier to instead of focusing on the hockey part where you were outplayed, to focus on the hit department where you played better.

so you slammed alberts and we won...i'll take the 2 points.

If you take a moment and read through the game thread, you'll see that we all agreed that the Flyers were playing like crap, particularly in the first.

true about the vulnerable part. i have actually gotten hit in a similar way to this where i kneeled lower to pry the puck out of a scrum and some idiot of course hit me in that position. i fell into the boards...composed myself...got up, and waited for that sucker to touch the puck again there was no call on the play, but i got back at him cleanly.

Hartnell should have held up but a lot of times you make the decision to make the hit and are going too fast to think, "my, how vulnerable he looks...i wonder if i should finish my check?"
so of course everyone is a critic on this hit but very few would understand unless they themselves had played the game.

And for the record, if Malone or Army or someone on the Pens did this, I'd be just as happy to see 20 game suspension and if it happened 4 friggin times, I'd be too embarrassed to try and defend it. That's the friggin truth. Any who are defending step out from your orange colored glasses for a second and see this stuff for what it really is, and what it is doing to the players being affected.

F-ing unbelievable that anyone would shrug it off at this point. Get a set and call your coach out for what he is, for not stamping this crap out two suspensions ago: an irresponsible a-hole!
