There is no jump right now in any line or any player right now. Everyone looks very, very slow out there.

They are also making many of the familiar mistakes we saw with Hanlon all over again.

They definitely look tired....and they aren't playing well. They need to weather the storm a bit.

Relax. This is a direct reflection of a regular Caps game. Florida dominates 1st period, scores a goal, then Caps take over later on.

if they don't get some jump soon, it could be 3-0 at the end of the period

this year it seems its: the caps dominate the first period, but the other team scores and the caps play catch up the rest of the way

Another turnover in the slot by nylander.

Good backcheck by Ovi right before that.

This is looking really bad again.

I hesitate when I say this, but I think the fans need to bring the "boo-birds" out again.

What the hell kind of pinch was that by Pothier? It's a 3 on 2 and you pinch outside the offensive blueline? Please.

Well....its fortunate that the caps are only down by one. Florida took it to them that period.

well from what CP has conveyed it wasn't a very pretty 1st period but it seems that the shot totals were pretty even. it could have started out much worse for them so ill take trailing 1-0 after the 1st.

Kozlov might be one of the worst players I've seen in a Caps uniform in a long, long, long time.

I know everyone here will disagree with me, but he has been absolutely embarrassing bad out there 90% of this season.

He's invisible nearly every single game.
He doesn't do anything to help teammates.
He's slow.

It gets worse and worse for him as the year goes on. I'm kind of worried about him.

i'm not a huge fan either.. but when he actually has a good game the caps seem to win.. if he gets hot that'll be a huge plus.

I've got Harvard vs. Yale on the regular Comcast package but no Caps broadcast. Weird. Yet that's likely to be a more entertaining game.

Thats a bit over the top, IMO. He'll have some good games and bad ones...but that shouldn't be surprised considering his career consistency. Plus its a bit hard to single out one player this period when the ENTIRE TEAM LOOKED BAD.

He brings nothing to this team. He is a waste of a roster spot. Zubrus would have and could have brought more tenacity and energy to this lineup and he is a better defensively.

I'll still take him and his contract over Zubrus and his contract.

But, fundamentally, there are a lot of problems with this team right now. Way too often they look downright careless / listless. The immediate boost from a coaching change seems to have faded and now comes the period where Boudreau has to show his stuff as a motivator, teacher and strategist. I'm not expecting magic or any quick fixes here. He's got a daunting task ahead of him.

Vogel mentioned between periods that they're again approaching the point where a decision needs to be made--both by the front office and Kolzig--regarding Olie's future on the team.

Kozlov just got smoked, as Joe B said.

What a waste.

He is on pace for........ 10 goals this year. Ten.

PP coming up for the lackadaisical, Hanlon-esque "hockey" team.
