Nonsense he'll just do it more times/game the kids on a goal to break records.

Good to hear though, I like that we'll play every team in the league.

In this instance, change is good. The schedule was getting a bit pedestrian.

I think this is the right schedule. 30 non-conference games would be too much unless you go to 1 single 16 team playoff structure.

If they have Canadian teams play each other, then rotate the 24 US teams around, it's perfect.

Here is another article also mentions a possible reduction to the exhibition schedule and an increase to an 84-games regular season starting at the earliest in 2009-10:

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/morr..._schedule.html

That's because several of the Canadians teams (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton along with the Rangers and Dallas) were keen on every team seeing the other twice in a season, home and away. But there were too many teams that covet the divisional games and don't want the extra travel and expense, so they carried the day.

The schedule change carried with a 26-4 vote, with the dissenters believed to be Anaheim, New Jersey, Boston and the New York Islanders.

Still don't like this and I think they should cut to 4 division games tbh.

I know people will say that number is too low, but it really increases the importance of each game which will ramp up the passion and competitiveness.

When we lose to the Rags, we can just think, "we'll play them 7 other times", but in a 4 game series, if we lose to the Rags, we can actually be pretty damn pissed. It'd make each divisional game that much more intense and important and besides, I like hockey and I like seeing great players and seeing guys like Thornton and Datsyuk playing us only 1 a year sucks because I like to watch them.

I hated this scheduling format. Finally someone got it right.

GKJ...doesn't seem like the NFL concept (last place vs. three last place teams) applies.

http://v4.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=11485

BTW: The Flyers will get 3 wild card games against the West every year. Even if they don't play the Pacific Division next year on the road, they would still have the option of playing 3 games against LA, Anaheim and San Jose out west.

I know for a fact Dean Lombardi and Brian Burke would love for the Flyers to come West every year. Guaranteed sellouts.

Don't be surprised if Flyers president Peter Luukko asks for those wild card games against the Pacific Division. He likes the idea of playing on the Left Coast and the Flyer players do, as well.
