Something tells me we are not going to get 3 PPGs....

Caps maintain their 3 pt 'lead' in the standings as they fall 5-2.

11/30/07: Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes. RBC Center. 7p.m.

Game Day Thread: Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes
RBC Center
7p.m.

TV: CSN (Yahoo! will also be streaming)
Radio: 3WT 1500 AM

Washington Capitals: 8-15-2, 18 points
5-7-1 on the road
5th in the Southeast Division, 15th in the Eastern Conference

Carolina Hurricanes: 13-9-3, 29 points
7-5-1 at home
1st in the Southeast Division, 3rd in the Eastern Conference

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Washington hobbles into Carolina to take on the suddenly struggling Hurricanes. Carolina has lost five of its last seven games and now sits just four points ahead of second-place Florida (with a game in hand). The entire Southeast Division could be described as struggling, as Carolina is currently the only club over the .500 mark. Three Southeast Division teams--Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Washington--currently round out the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

Carolina dropped a road game against Washington this past Saturday. Washington's power play was key, potting three goals on four chances. Defenseman Mike Commodore remains out of the lineup with a broken finger. Up front, the Canes are healthy again as Andrew Ladd and Scott Walker have both made their way back into the lineup.

For the Caps, forwards Chris Clark and Boyd Gordon are out. Tomas Fleischmann will be back in the lineup and joined by Hershey callup Quintin Laing (who will make his Caps debut).

PreCap will air @ 3p.m.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Washington:

Ovechkin - Nylander - Kozlov
Fleischmann - Backstrom - Semin
Pettinger - Steckel - Laing
Brashear - Laich - Bradley

Poti - Jurcina
Morrisonn - Green
Pothier - Schultz

Kolzig

Carolina:

Ladd - Brind'Amour - Williams
Stillman - Staal - Cole
Whitney - Cullen - Walker
LaRose - Hamilton - Adams

Seidenberg - Hedican
Kaberle - Wallin
Wesley - Gleason

Ward

Thanks. Can you add GDT: to the beginning of the title? (I can't edit it.)

No problems its done.

Looking at the lines the 2nd one is going to be a minus tonight, heh. If I was making the lines I would put Kozlov on the 2nd like and Semin on the first.

Minor Line Change for the Canes:

Ladd-Brind'Amour-Williams
Stillman-Staal-Cole
Whitney-Cullen-Walker
LaRose-Hamilton-Adams/Letowski*

*No official word on if Adams or Letowski plays tonight. Wednesday Adams only got 2 mins of ice time, so I wouldn't be shocked if he finds himself in the pressbox tonight.

Ovechkin will make the pair of Kaberle/Wallin look like fools. These 2 were atrocious Wednesday night and why they are still paired is beyond me.

Good luck tonight, but not that much.

if everyone skates hard, and are agressive in attempting to dictate the play, then the Caps should stay in the game and have a chance to win... that being said, 4-3 Canes, unfortunately!

How is that fair? I hate playing Carolina because every game is a potential embarassment.

Well, I'll be there as usual when the Caps come around my way. Hopefully it will be a little more competitive than the game at the beginning of the month.

Hmm...I don't like what I see with these lines. 6-1 Canes.

EDIT: I DO like these defensive pairings...

Poti - Jurcina
Morrisonn - Green

Hey now, you guys are leading the series 2-1. And that first game when you guys won 2-0, we had the same line up in.

I do enjoy watching the Whitney-Cullen-Walker line.

5-2 Canes. Semin continues to play like crap.

Honestly, even if he can play, he shouldn't. He's trying to pick up where he left off last year, which is a problem considering how rusty he is. He needs to simplify his game, give the puck to Backstrom, get open and do what his injury hasn't affected--SHOOT THE DAMN PUCK.

Stillman missed the first game. (and Grahame was in net)

ok Semin shouldn't be playing, he needs rest and is just not ready yet.. That second line just doesn't jive for me.

Here is hoping for an Ottawa type miracle...

I predict we lose a game and another player somehow.

At 32 I have finally run out of optimism for this team. I put up a good fight.

umm 4-2 canes but the second line shows chemistry on the offensive side and is on the ice for all the goals for both teams.

edit: nylander has to be a minus to keep up with his season so he is on the ice for one goal against
