I'm a Leafs fan and along with that comes a hate for the Flyers, but even I am willing to admit that this is just a bunch of coincidences. I find it hard to picture an NHL executive or coach sitting the team down and telling them to start hitting people from behind or in the head.

I feel bad that you guys keep getting these unlucky suspensions. It's so often just last second reaction plays that you end up regretting.

Noone care's about the preds so probably won't even be reviewed. Their attendance is currently on track to be the Hamilton Preds this time next year.

Wow I've seen a lot of Leafs fans overreact on a lot of the plays that led to suspensions. Glad to see one of them is down to Earth.

This hit wasn't nearly as bad as the Hartnell hit. Weird that he got two additional games...

Cote sucks anyway, so it really doesnt matter. The more games the better in my eyes. Keep him out of the lineup.
he hit a stars defenseman, not bruins.

Strange. I just watched the video a whole bunch of times and I still can't tell what's going on with Cote's left arm. It looks like it magically passes right through Niskanen's head at :08.

I think the elbow actually just sweeps over his head, pulls the helmet off, and slams into the boards. I can't see any other way for his helmet to disappear like that.

The suspension is supposed to be based off of injury. That was deserving of a 2 minute minor or a 5 minute major, no more. Bullsh*t.

What if there was a black hole in Cote's elbow?

That hit just really isn't worth a 5 minute major

He did leave his feet but it really wasn't even much of a hit to the head. Looks like his arm more skimmed over the top and then yanked his helmet off.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. If the league deems it an intent to injure then they do have grounds for a suspension. And the fact that the media won't shut up about shots to the head.. the league could be using this as another example that no matter what the result they still take it seriously.

Has that pic been doctored or did he really put the Flyers on notice? Colbert is the funniest dude on TV for my money.

I think 3 games is overkill, but whatever.

And let's face it... the Flyers have been watched since the Downie hit. There's no way the league can even try to say they haven't. Not when similar or worse hits have been let go, and Flyers get suspended.

With no injury to speak of in this case, this only begs the question as to why Andy Sutton was not suspended.
