NHL Scoring Issues

and Players today aren't better necessarily. Some players that are on the ice today would never made it past the AHL 15 years ago. The more teams you add means there are more jobs to be added.

Add 1 team and thats 20 players who are on the ice that wouldn't be on the ice if that team didn't exist. Hence for every team added 20 more players that are in the AHL or other minor leagues are given the opportunity to play in the NHL.

To put it another way if the league took away 4 teams that's 80 players on ice would be gone. Do you think Crosby, Kopitar, Jagr, Shanny, Sakic, Malkin or any other good or great players would not be in the NHL? It's more likely the Ortmeyers, Moores, Boogards, Hollwegs and other players w/ less skill that will be taken off the ice. The more skilled players on the ice the better the product. It's really easy math.

This is why when any sport increases the teams people say the talent pool gets watered down, and not that the talent pool got better.
