Most time between NHL stints?

Inspired by the oldest player to make his debut question...which player had the longest time between stints in the national hockey league?

I'll start the bidding with Moe Roberts, who last played in 1933-34 with the New York Americans before suiting up on November 25, 1951 in relief of an injured Harry Lumley.

That's eighteen seasons!

For the post WHA-merger NHL, my vote is going to go to Steve Maltais, who, after appearing in 3 games with the Red Wings in 1993-94, went on a six season hiatus from the NHL before resurfacing with the expansion Blue Jackets in 2000-01. HM to Jeff Serowik, who had a seven season gap (1990-91 with the Leafs until 1998-99 with the Penguins) "marred" by a lone appearance with the Bruins in 1994-95.

Kent Nilsson 7.5 years. 1986-1987 Minnesota, Edmonton and 1995 Edmonton (1994-1995 lockout season). WHA players: Gordie Howe 8 years and Bobby Hull 7 years.

Roberto Romano is another modern-day goaltender who went nearly seven full years between appearances.

OK, but in Howe's case it's 1970-1971. Howe did not play in 1971-1972.

pnep, I believe your list is missing Steve Bancroft. He played one game for the Blackhawks in 92-93, and didn't play another until 2001-02 with San Jose. I happened by him once flipping through the NHL Guide and Record Book, and immediately recalled his name when I saw this thread, thinking perhaps he held the record.
