It's either Carbo or about 15 players

I don't know. I've been really patient through all this so far, but it seems more and more like this year is turning into a repeat of last, which ain't cool in my books.
I don't know if firing Carbo is the answer, but something absolutely needs to be done to shake this team up. It almost seems that mediocrity has become commonplace to them. Where's the effort?

Yes. This team has no respect for him. Put Gainey back behind the bench.

I don't want to fire him...he's doing a fine job IMO. If only the players could wake up and don't fall into a slump every year. It's like that nomather which coach we have...we better keep one for once and build a team like that...

I would try to do a trade, and maybe call up a talent like Kostitsyn from Hamilton...

yes. they won't play for him anymore, it's very clear in the past few weeks. his comments about Markov can't have helped either.

Well, I started the "Fire Carbonneau" thread during pre-season, so I'm guessing you know which way I'm leaning towards.

for me, it was the last straw... He should be fired right now, don't even wait until tomorrow.

We should have never hired him in the first place. This team needs a veteran coach, not a new one every 2-3 years who has no experience.

This team has talent, we all have seen them play great games and make good plays. They may not be on the same level as Ottawa, but there is no reason that they shouldn't be in the playoffs.

It's the coach and the coach's system. Bring in someone that will respect the players and actually help them, and I think it would make a big difference.

look at our roster. do you really think it's the roster of a playoff team ? we are still over .500 (i think). i would say that carbo did a good job with a team like that.

YES, it's been long enough. he simply hasn't done enough positives to deserve to keep his job, i was a supporter of his but i've lost hope with him. Hire an EXPERIENCED coach... hiring an experience coach is just as good as acquiring a star player right now in my opinion as it would totally turn this team around.

I polled yes...Not because of the loss this evening at all. I just think that he is not coach savvy.
I think the team as a whole has stopped playing for him and I don't think he truly is a very good coach, especially if players call HIM out to the media and also the way he carries himself during media scums.

Absolutely fire Carbonneau.

I have never participated in a fire Carbo thread before today( in the negative). What did it for me was Brisboise in the line-up against the fast skating Canes. Carbo has no clue what-so-ever. That 1st period break away by Cole at the expense of Brisboise's slow legs (even if there was no goal on the play) dictated how the Habs would approach the offensive zone for the rest of the night.

Gainey should step in as Waddell did with the Thrashers. Carbo fired or bumped to assistant. He's not getting the job done, and the Habs are more important than any ex-player - no matter who he is.

Silly me, I want an experienced coach who knows what the hell he's doing. Who knows how to prepare his team. Who HAS his players, and doesn't call them out because he sucks at his job. Who isn't a whiney ***** after every single penalty (drives me mad watching his smirk).
Bad mood. Bad losses.
Loved Carbo as a player, but as a head coach... ehh.

-great goaltending (even though lately hasn't been great)
-excellent top 3 defenceman
-higgins, koivu, kovalev, kostitsyn and plekanec can be good offensive producers and we also have some solid energy and defensive guys forward

YES we have a playoff team, not a contender but we do have enough to make the playoffs which is why this team needs a new coach

when is the last time the habs had a respected/respectable coach? pat burns? Demers maybe? It's been a long long time. Bunch of rookies like Humpty Dumpty, Vigneault, Tremblay and then Carbonneau. It's very annoying to be the NHL's official Coaching School.
