Jan 20 GDT: Kings v. Calgary

Kings finally broke the winless streak. Now it's time for a nice long undefeated streak.

They'll have to keep the streak going against Calgary, a team that just does not give up too many goals which does not bode well for the offensively challenged Kings. Turek was in goal last night, so it will probably be McLennan in net tonight. Either way, I just don't think the Kings can muster the necessary offense, Flames 3-1.

Since I am wearing a tie, I vote for a tie 2-2

I believe calgary is without Iginla and Kiprusof...2 very good players...lets see if the Kings can take advantage...i think the flames have had the kings number these past few seasons.

I'll see your two good players with Straka & Miller and I will raise you three excellent players in Allison, Deadmarsh and Palffy.

I say 4-2 Kings.

This game will indicate the mindset of the Kings. Are going to make a move, or make plans for a spring vacation? It is always tough for the Kings when they come off a trip. Will it be a big lift or deep six? These next seven are games which the season turns on. .500 will not be good enough. We need 10 of the 14 points just to solidify our shakiness of the last month. A good effort and a tie is not going to cut it, it should be win at all costs. The Flames are beatable, they played last night, we face their second goalie, and Iginla may be out. Time to step it up. 2-0 Kings (EN). Use some extra stickum on that hair piece and put a sixer in the fridge, it could be a bumpy evening.

Guz, you were right Luc should be in the line-up. The Army-Klatt-Robtaille line will pop in 3 goals. 3-*0* Kings. Cechmanek w/ the shut out.

Yeah, it's just better when they have to cover him. That gets a lesser guy to cover Frolov. You ain't gonna waste your best guy on the coverage of career minor leaguers.

Sure we have injuries, but the Kings are always capable of surprising you with a win even when they're the underdog.

I think Sutter's boys are going to make it tough... but I feel like being optimistic... I'm going to go with 3-2 Kings. (In regulation).

Goal by Army!

Goal by Lappy!

Kings up 2-0 mid way thru the 1st. It's an offensive explosion!!!!

Calgary pulled Turek and McLennan is now in. See, I told you McLennan would be in net tonight.

Kings on PP, then Frolov to the box. Calgary on PP in about 10 secs.

How was that boarding on Green not 5 minutes. Not only was it unecessary and deliberate, the puck was no where near Visnovsky

Big hitting by Barney so far this game. He's playing the style of game the Kings always expected out of him. It's good to see he can finally play his style now that all the back injuries are over.

Just said on the broadcast that Straka tore the MCL in his knee and will go under the knife. The Kings "hope" to have him back by the end of the regular season (sometime in March).

Visnovski to the box. Kings are starting to take some penalties. Short 2 man for Calgary then a PP.

Update, now it's only a PP.

Kings steal the puck at center ice. 2 on 1 break with Frolov and Klatt. First shot rebounds off the goalie and Corvo puts it into an open net (Turek was down and out of the play) and then rolls head over heels into the boards (don't worry, he's got a smile on his face!).

Kings up 3-0!!!!!

Kings go on the PP just seconds before the end of the period. Kings will have a fresh sheet of ice to work the PP on to start the 2nd.

Kings dominated the play and spent most of the time attacking in the Calgary zone. Best 1st period of hockey I've seen them play since that Boston game where they stole defeat from the jaws of victory. Let's see if we can do better this time around.
