3rd Line

For tonight we look ahead the 3rd Line will be...
Thornton - Armstrong - Willsie........

Just a thought.. but these line is a line who nobody cares.
The eyes are on the 1st n` 2nd for scoring and everyone is expecting from the 4th to shut down the Sedins.

IMO this 3rd is useless. These Line would never dressed on another team in the NHL.
They can`t score, hit, pass, protect, eat time, offense, defense....

What would YOU do with this line or with this gap in the Kings lineup ???

For me it`s unacceptable that Players like Purcell, Boyle, Lewis,
Harrold.... etc sitting in Manchester and playing their but off
while a Line of bums play for a nhl-team.

I would move Handzus to center that line and recall Purcell and Moulson.
This Line would have size and grit with scoring threat.
The year is gone and that would develope the guys very well.

..... but at least.... i`m not the GM....

write down your thoughts please

First move is I'm swapping out Gauthier for Giuliano. Giuliano is better suited for the 4th line center role. If Meckler had more pro experience, I'd probably give him a look there. By bringing Gauthier back to Manchester, I've got a center for a second scoring line there using Gauthier and Lewis as the top two centers...

I don't know where you came up with that combination, and it's as good as any that Crawford seems to think will work (and never does) but by the third period it's pretty much a guarantee that Armstrong will play with at least 7 forwards from all four lines, and Kopitar will again center Ivanans and Zeiler for a few turns, and Willsie will flub a perfect scoring opportunity within the first three minutes of the game. These are the only things that are definite.

As for the kids. They MUST stay in Manchester. The NHL is no place for them to be learning on the fly, that's the WHOLE POINT of the AHL as a development league.

If Frolov comes back into the lineup tonight, it seems likely that he'll see a lot of time on Armstrong's wing. Armstrong's hot right now so he should be able to help Frolov ease back into the line-up...

I agree with the Kings standing pat keeping Purcell and Boyle in Manchester but MOulson and Harrold are more than ready to be effective NHL players. Better than much of whom we have now.

The issues or whatever you want to call them with Moulson and Harrold coming up are getting them into the lineup on a nightly basis and that it cuts into the Kings depth...

O'Sullivan-Kopitar-Brown
Frolov-Armstrong-Cammalleri
Nagy-Handzus-Calder
Thornton-Zeiler-Ivanans
Press box: Willsie

Problem solved. The third line would be good defensively and chip in a few goals. It makes too much sense to happen with Crawford as coach, though.

I hope you got a halfway decent return for Nagy...

I just offered Nagy up to the Bruins for a pick or picks. What round(s) should I accept and in which draft(s)?

Remember, I'm also a Bruins fan so I'm not looking to give up a lot...

Dang you're fast. 4th and 7th round 2008. Gives Lombardi about 70 draft picks in 2008. No other GMs need show up for the draft.

I'd grit my teeth and bear it this year. Then in the offseason I'd sign Jay Pandolfo or Jason Chimera and field a 3rd line next year of Pandolfo/Chimera - Handzus - Calder, which in the Pandolfo case would compare favorably to Neidermayer - Pahlsson - Moen, or in the Chimera case would be a much faster and better defensive line than this current one.

Purcell - Kopitar - Brown
Frolov - O'Sullivan - Cammalleri
Pandolfo/Chimera - Handzus - Calder
Asham - Armstrong - Ivanans

A boy can dream, can't he?
