FORWARD GABE GAUTHIER ASSIGNED TO MANCHESTER (AHL)
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled forward Jeff Giuliano from the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League and assigned forward Gabe Gauthier to the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi today announced.
Giuliano, 28, has four points (3-1=4) and 14 penalty minutes in 23 games with the Monarchs this season. The 5-9, 205-pound native of Nashua, New Hampshire, has played in 48 career NHL games – all with the Kings during the 2005-06 season – and has seven points (3-4=7) and 26 penalty minutes. Giuliano signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on August 12, 2005, and wears jersey No. 29.
Gauthier, 23, has zero points and zero penalty minutes in three games with the Kings this season. He has also played in 21 games with the Monarchs this season where he was tied for the team-lead in goals with eight and was second on the team in scoring with 27 points at the time of his recall to the Kings (December 2). The 5-9, 205-pound native of Torrance, California, has played in eight career NHL games – all with the Kings – and has zero points and two penalty minutes. Gauthier was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on July 7, 2006.
The Kings next play tonight (December 10) when they host Vancouver at 7:30 p.m. (PT) at STAPLES Center. The game will be broadcast on FSN West, KTLK AM 1150 and on the Kings Radio Network.

Well, a sheer numbers game would indicate someone would have to go, and as much as Giuliano is not at the very bottom of MY list... it's gonna be hard to ship Willsie, Thornton, Ivanans, Zeiler or Nagy out of town

LaBarbera goes on IR retroactive to the Avs game. When he's ready to come off, Quick goes back to Manchester or Aubin gets a little time off on the IR...
With Giuliano, they'll be carrying 14-forwards on the active roster when Frolov comes off IR...
Lombardi might go back to carrying only 13-forwards, but we'll have to see how that plays out...
Crawford on the Gauthier recall: "It felt better to have a center here to give the guys a little more consistency in line groupings." "(Gauthier) has played with Zeiler before and played well with him."
Crawford on the Gauthier demotion: "We think Gabe really progressed well but this is not the role for him -- the fourth line grinding center playing on a line with Raitis and John Zeiler."

So in Crawford's twisted brain, it made total sense that Giuliano stepped in and played wing with Handzus and Calder.
Giuliano reminds me of Dan Bylsma, which isn't necessarily a bad thing (in terms of defensive forwards). The Kings need a shot blocking specialist up front. Haven't had that since they lost Byslma, Lappy and Buchberger.
I wonder if Nagy gets waived. He is obviously not living up to his salary and appears to have found a home in the dog house. There is no way we resign him, and i doubt he has much value on the trade market. Maybe someone desperate takes him off our hands.

They could probably still get a pick for him at this point...
I thought he was out with a hip flexor the past couple of games???
Yup....but in all fairness he has been in "Crow's" doghouse!
I realize he's been a healthy scratch just trying to confirm last night as best I could. I had the Nucks feed on CI last night so I didn't get a lot of Kings injury info during the broadcast...
