This is still my favorite Cherry play.

I THINK #8 on the American squad is 1st rounder Kevin Shattenkirk.

He's got really ****** D. Decent shot and good offense, but his defense leaves a LOT to be desired. That's putting it lightly, IMO.

Well, I'm not overly impressed with Bobby Sang's D (I think everyone remembers how much I hated the pick and I'm still not TOO much of a fan of him as a player), though I must say that he's made very big strides in that department.

Once Kevin Shattenkirk is Bobby Sang's age, he'll likely have made quite a few strides himself but I still wouldn't think of flipping Sangs for Shattenkirk as I think that Bobby's offensive ceiling is quite a bit larger than Shattenkirk's.

awesome goal but the D has to take the body on that. Even get in his way so he's not marching around him like that. Cherry's gonna meet some stiffer competition even in the AHL.

True, but there are crappy defenseman at every level that are unwilling to play the body. That won't work on 95% of NHL defenders, sure, but it's nice to know that Cherry has the skill to pull off such a play.

Cherepanov's gonna be the young kick in the pants this team needs offensively.

I just hope we develop him properly no matter how much we need our own young forward star.

Definately someone who could add skill to the third line next year (if ready), and get some PP time too.

I doubt he is going to be on the third line next year if he plays on this team. With Shanahan, Jagr and Straka possibly leaving we have to fill a lot of holes on the top two lines. I think him and Gomez can make a pretty damn good pairing (that is, if Cherry lives up to expectations)

Damn he earned that one, reminded me of Bobby Orr just dancing around the ice with the puck, man if he works this hard on the NHL level he is going to be spectacular!

Absolutely. While this organization is filled with a lot of good young defensemen, an solid hardworking forwards. We really do need some young forwards to help provide some offense for when Shanny and Jagr are gone. We need Cherepanov to be one of those guys.

What a goal. I can't wait for him to come over here...even just to see him in the AHL at first.

i dont think its possible to understate how important Bobby Sanguinetti is going to be for the future of this franchise. As long as he can stay semi competent in his own end, weve got an offensive gem for sure.

17-25-42 in just 31 games

To put that in perspective, thats more points than Jaromir Jagr & Brendan Shanahan have this year combined.

Obviously i dont expect a 1:1 transition up the food chain, but those numbers are just sick.

Having a defenseman who can actively and quickly transition the puck from defense to offense is going to be huge. Right now our best player at this is probably Marek Malik, and hes sitting on the bench.
