It's official, Scooter Vaughan has been skating as a forward and expects to play there this season. The move helps to alleviate some of the logjam of quality players that exists in the D corp.

Pateryn played against the NTDP on 10/3, but hasn't played since. I don't believe he is injured, just a matter of the numbers. The top four are Summers (PHX)-Burlon (NJ)-Kampfer (ANA) - and Langlais (Free agent) The freshman Lee Moffie looks to be the real deal (draft eligible) so that leaves Pateryn and Tristin Llewellyn roating in and out for the sixth d-man spot. I expect to see Pateryn back out there soon.

He played on Saturday since he had 2 pims unless that's a mistake. Sucks that he can't get a regular spot this year, with Mac Bennett joining the team next season who looked good in the one USHL game I saw him play, could be tough to get good ice next year as well.

As a Michigan fan, I don't agree that this sucks. Rather, it is awesome. lol

As a Michigan and a Montreal fan, I have mixed feelings.

Pateryn played last night and had an assist in Michigan's 3-2 win against Niagara University. He also had a big open ice hit in the second period.

Michigan jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the first and held on behind big play from both goaltenders.

I see that Pateryn sat out both games this past weekend, I'm guessing he's not injured though. Was hoping he would see more ice then this. Hope to see Michigan turn things around this weekend.

Has anyone hear that Jack Campbell has decommitted and will be signing with Windsor in the OHL?
Rumors are rampant he's going that way.

Not much of a rumor anymore. It was already confirmed by Jack himself yesterday.

Statement from Jack Campbell

The question now is, when does Campbell report to Windsor? Any chance for the remainder of this season????

I believe their contract with the USNDT is till June?
There is also a penalty of $50,000 by the player (not the team) that would need paid also.

So disappointed that Campbell won't be in AA for college hockey. He would have been a stud there. Now UM is a bit SOL as far as goaltending in the future.

Crap.

At least this past weekend went well, nice wins of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Take that WCHA!

Dean Lombardi's pretty candid on what he thinks of Michigan - what do you Michiganders think of his comments? Is Red just the beneficiary of the calibre of players the program attracts? I'm no expert on NCAA hockey, but I thought it was a pretty dramatic criticism, particularly given where one of Lombardi's own players is concerned.

Quote:
“This guy has never had any coaching [at the University of Michigan],” Lombardi said. “Jack just did what he wanted.”

“Michigan is the worst.” Lombardi added. “For hockey people, if you’ve got a choice between a kid—all things being equal—one’s going to Michigan and one’s going to Boston University, you all want your player [going to Boston University]. Michigan’s players—[head coach] Red [Berenson] doesn’t coach. It’s ‘do what you want.’ He gets the best players in the country.”

Lombardi is an idiot. Red Berenson is an amazing coach who gets mad respect from his players. I loved how Jack Johnson stuck up for Red.

Some good scoring chances some tough saves, then Gudmandson is out of position on a 50+ foot wrister... slow ice this evening.

Was that a tacky slash call w/1:56 allowing the Badgers to slam home the game winner on the ensuing PP? I thought the trip call about 3 min before was warranted but, the slash... must have been about defensive positioning perhaps. UW PP looked solid late.

The Wolverines must win the CCHA crown to stand a chance at making the NCAA tourney this year.
To win they have to get past the Red Hawks IMO, which will be a tough test to say the least.

Yeah, it's definitely not an easy thing to do. But, Michigan is playing lights out right now... so you never know.

What a victory for Michigan over Miami, 5-2. One win away from making the tourney. Next up is a game vs. Northern Michigan for the CCHA championship. Should be a good tilt.

Where has that team been all year? That was a clinic against Miami. should be a great game against Northern; their playing with some stones right now.

Michigan wins. 2-1. If Michigan ends up a 4-seed, some #1 seed is going to be extremely displeased. A team playing that red hot, with that much tournament experience is not someone you want to see.
