Malkin

I know the two teams are not good trading partners.....just curious how far you guys would go to get Malkin if the Pens decided to shop

would you move Staal and Montoya?

I would consider it. But Pitt has no reason to trade Malkin or be interested in Al.

I'd consider it, but Staal is quickly becoming untouchable as far as trades go.

as much as i love staal i dont think any of us would have a choice if we were GM. Malkin is a franchise player.

I would give up a hell of a lot.

Staal isn't becoming untouchable he has been since we drafted him. I remember last year at the trade deadline the Kings or St.Louis offered up like 5 or six guys for Staal and we turned them down.

I'd also be very wary giving the Penguins a franchise defenseman to go along with Whitney and Crosby.

Maybe you should lighten up. Did you actually read this thread or just puke that post out without thinking?

Pittsburgh trading Malkin is totally viable imo. I'd be willing to bet the scenario comes up in the Pitts GM office semi-often.

They already have Sid. Trading ONE Malkin NOW while he's

1. cheap
2. 2nd year proven legit

will bring the Pens the highest return of SEVERAL quality players/prospects to help their team build into a BETTER OVERALL team.

Do they HAVE TO do this. No

Is it another way a decent team could become an even better team? Perhaps

The fact is the Pens have the chip to play if they choose.

I agree, and stated right in the original post, that these two teams are not great trading partners.

The question is what would you be willing to part with to get Malkin?

Sorry, I saw this thread and just want to chime in real quick.

1.The Pens trading Malkin is NOT a viable option.
a. The Pens are going to be playing in a new arena soon
b. They have one of the best 1-2 centers in the NHL
c. This is a young team and they have time to grow together
d. When you have a player like Evgeni you just don't send him off to collect some other parts.

2. Just because we have Sid does NOT mean we have to trade another great player.
a. We can pay both when it comes time
b. When Sid goes off the ice......here come Malkin
c. Do you see how the 1pp unit flows
d. His contract is cheap
e. He is proven legit in his 2nd year

All in all Evgeni is going nowhere, sorry.

Would Montoya. Anisimov, Baranka, and Dawes, be enough? 2 great prospects and 2 good ones

I dont mind these threads popping up every once in a while. They can be entertaining to say the least.

What irks me is when someone suggests that Prucha, Dawes, Malik, and a 2nd rounder could get someone of value.

LoL, that might get you Daryl Sydor.

They are not trading Malkin... if we had him, would we? If by some crazy 1 in a million chance they do - think Staal, Montoya, Cherepanov, and Tyutin OR Girardi... quite possibly a pick as well...

I believe this thread was all about asking what RANGER fans would be willing to give up for Malkin. Would Malkin ever be moved? Probably not.. but this isn't what this thread is about. I for one, enjoy reading responses to see what other fans think of our players trade value.

And at least it's not a "what would we have to give up for Crosby" thread either.

I hear ya, but your D is horrible and your goaltending is "suspect" at best.

Keep Malkin and build over years?... or trade him now for "quality players " not spare parts"?

Would you trade Malkin for Drury, Cherepenov and Staal?
