Hartnell slash on Komisarek

What was up with that? Looked like he wanted to break his arm in two!

Should this be sent to the league for review? Can't believe the refs never called anything for this - it was brutal and could've put him out for a long time!

Seriously, I heard Komisarek screaming, it didn't feel good. At least it's not serious

I heard it too! Can't believe the non-call. Philly is a dirty, dirty team.

I didn't see it, but all accounts were that it was pretty bad. Anyone know if Komisarek missed a shift or anything? Hartnell is playing pretty reckless this year. He's always played with an edge, but I wonder if because he's not scoring he feels he has to be a force physically?

I'm pretty sure Carbo WILL send it to the league. He's very protective of his players.

Komi spent like 5 minutes screaming stuff "what a total idiot, what kind of slash was that ?? " etc. Flyers were already worrying me before that cuz theyre just plain dumb and dirty.

I saw it, it'd be hilarious if a flyers player got suspended again..

Not sure but I think the slash went on his stick but he screamed to get the attention....

Still another reprehnesible move by a Philadelphia player..

Edit: By the way the check from being on Kostitsyn was not cleaner

THe problem with that is that Carbo has a rep of a whiner now. 2 games in a row I've heard the announcing crew talk about it, and if the non-Montreal announcing crew is talking about it that pretty much means it's gone from the refs to the team management to the announcers.

It looks like he's calmed it down a bit though. I wonder if Gainey said something to him.

It wasn't suspendable at all, we see slashes like that all the time.

The bigger joke was that it was not called to begin with.

Or he started winning again?

To be winning would imply more than one win, wouldn't it? Carbo was pretty calm at the refs vs Carolina (though he reportedly ripped the team pretty good).

Obviously Komisarik cannot depend on the refs to call penalties. This is the 2nd time in 3 games that Komi has been brutalized and the refs were out to lunch. If I were Komi I'd mark em all up, and put them on my S-list.

Then I would make sure that next game I played against these teams, I would make a special effort to stealthily rock their clocks in like manner.

Beep, Beep.

the thing is, they won't suspend him for that, no matter how bad it was. If they do, you'd hear a lot of : "***, If he wasn't playing for Philly, he would never had that suspension" ...which is actually true.

Can't tell in the game in Carolina, I couldn't see him clearly front my section, and I was too busy eating smoked meats and nachos.

You might be right, time will tell.

It hit him on the lower leg. You could see him limping away after.

Nah, that was from the side. He really could have plowed him face first there if he wanted, but didn't.

Yep. It was from the side but looked worse because Kostitsyn was turning away from it. He wasn't hurt, so it's all good.

Some might disagree, but I think A Kost let himself get in a position to get hit that way. Fortunately he was right at the boards.

There is a fine line between running a guy from behind and a guy leaving himself open to being hit from behind in close plays. The obvious ones are easy to tell.

The hit started as a shoulder hit and Kosty rotated and took the rest of the hit from behind.

Unless hits along the boards are outlawed totally, these kind of hits will happen sometimes. I'd like to see both the hitter and receiver be smarter about how they handle those hits. The best thing was Kosty was right at the boards and vertical.

I don't think he meant to hit him from behind, I thought Kostitsyn turned his back to him but I would need to see the replay.

Hartnell has surprised me. I had him pictured as a good up and down, grity,'honest' player. These guys have always been my favorites. Really good 3rd line guys who can play in any role, any situation. I was surprised in last year's palyoffs at what a punk the guy was. He's proven my initial rection wrong.

I think the refs need to answer whether they missed this, or saw it and decided not to make a call. There will always be guys like Hartnell around, and I'm not saying I wouldn't take him here [fan hypocrisy being what it is].

Missing a call is one thing, ignoring one is something else. Play tough, but 2 handed swings are gutless.
