Robbery..

Obviously more reasons behind it, but I think you guys will be really happy with Mcdonald.

Good deal for you guys..

Must be a pre cursor to Selanne coming back or salary cap reasons..

Weight and Mcdonald..wow.

Im curious, do you think Weight would come back yet again lol?

To me it seems like the organization and himself have a mutual respect for eachother. That's of course if they talked to him prior about the trade ( which im guessing they did ), but again im simply an outsider speculating. Perhaps far offbase.

If my speculation is correct though, he is quite the selfless player that has done worlds for this rebuild.

I don't think he'll return. If all goes well, his spot will be taken by Berglund next year.

Well this gives you guys an actual offense, but you guys still have the goalie problem. Not only is Legace’s injuries a problem, but is suck-atood during the playoffs. Still, you guys are moving in the right direction

I'm laughing at this one.

Burke has gone insane.. Weight isn't so good compared to McDonald... And Weight is like.. 36 or 37? Where McDonald is.. 29-30

Is this coming from a BlueJackets fan, saying we're moving in the right direction? Legace played lastnight and gave up 1 goal.

Washed-up, project of a second-liner prospect, and a draft-pick with a 0.45% chance of turning into an NHL player.

You won the deal, although I happen to be in the "McDonald's numbers were a product of Teemu Selanne" camp.

Read a little higher and you'll see that I love this deal.

Nobody.

He's lacked chemistry and the creativity from his line-mates he needs since Selanne left. Put him with Kariya and Boyes, and he gets better in a hurry.

Good look with Andy guys, we will miss him.

If he has chemistry with his linemates and is playing with confidence he can be a very dynamic player.

The key with Andy is that he has the right linemates. He was nearly useless this season with any combination of Bertuzzi/Marchant/Miller/Kunitz.

Those aren't exactly the best linemates. Bertuzzi is definitly not the finisher he used to be. Marchant, Miller, and Kunitz are all decent. But When andy comes here he can be on a line with Perron, Stempy, Backes, or who knows maybe he will light a fire under Rucinsky's back side (dreaming). But all around good trade by JD.

I'm just a big fan of his speed he brings, if he does play with Kariya it'll be nice to see that he actually can keep up with him. With Kariya Boyes and Mcdonald you might even see an offensive rush with all 3 guys coming into the zone.

I'll 2nd the linemates comment by McDonald19.

Andy is a great complementary 1st liner. He needs speedy finishers on his wings. He's a good playmaker, and if he gets confidence assisting goals, then he actually starts scoring goals. The Ducks have either put him with slow guys or guys who can't/won't shoot this season. Hence the slow production.

Blues fans: why would you say Weight is not doing well this year? Is he just deteriorating with age or has there just been no chemistry/luck?

I expect both McDonald and Weight to perform well this year by joining lines with complementary styles. Better than each would do if there were no trade. This should be a very good hockey move for both teams this year, although we probably come out behind in the future.

Okey guys, how do we get Afinogenov

Kariya - McDonald - Afinogenov

Perhaps the fastest line in nhl?

pretty good trade for both teams. Ducks get Niedermayer back and get a 2nd line center for their 2nd line center who could be a 1st line center with the right linemates. best of luck to McDonald. great guy.

Weight is getting old, but he can still contribute, he got off to a slow start this season, but as of late he's been heating up. Just like McDonald he needs finishers, you can tell his play has gotten better when he was put on a line with Kariya and Boyes. I don't know how he'll play with Bert, I guess only time will tell.

I really hope they try him with Perron rather than just stick him in between Kariya and Boyes as the temptation would be. I think the chemistry of our top line earlier this season was dynamic and the only reason they were broken up was to balance the lines. Now that Stempniak and McClement are producing, I think we can keep Tkachuk with Boyes and Kariya and still have a balanced attack. Putting McDonald with Perron finally would give Perron someone to play with at center that can do the kinds of things he can do at a very fast speed. Plus it means that each of the top 2 lines would have a powerforward (Tkachuk/Backes) a smaller faster playmaker (Kariya/McDonald) and a sniper with good passing ability (Boyes/Perron)
