I want the Rangers to go after this kid.

He was passed over in the draft by every NHL team.

However, in hindsight, all 30 NHL teams are kicking them selves in their collective behinds for passing up on him even with a late round pick.

The kid has graduated from Division 1 to Swedish Elite League, and is lighting it up.

22 years old, and has all the offensive tools, tools of which are being compared to Daniel Alfredsson by scouts.

6'1, 200 lbs

As an unrestricted free agent, after this season he can be signed by any NHL club by June...15th i believe.

Rumor has it, Detroit wants him bad, to go along with all the rest of their Swedish stars.

I think the Rangers would be WISE to get this kid before anyone else can, because he could be a special player.

With Cherepanov coming over next year, this kid could come with him.

Adding more depth to our forwards, and adding someone who could end up being an elite player in the NHL, to go along with Cherepanov.

Thus, making it easier to go all out for someone like Ovechkin. We will be able to build young star quality talent around an Ovechkin, while being able to stay under the cap.

It is believed by hockey people that this will soon be a new trend in the NHL because of the collective bargaining agreement; signing young unrestricted free agents from Europe to entry level contracts, that could wind up being stars in the league.

Go get him Slats! Before someone else does and winds up with a gem.

Since he's a UFA, is it basically a bidding war? If that's the case, Slats, break out the cheque book!

Sure looks like he can play... But why did all the NHL teams pass on him? Any specific reason?

same reason teams pass up on Girardi, Ortmeyer, and other ufa, no one really knows.

Probably because he spent time in lower leagues like Division 1 and 2 (the third and fourth best leagues in Sweden). Hard to get NHL attention from there.

Sorry but what? I have always thought that games that I watch on big ice (SEL and international games) looks slower than NHL-games with smaller ice...

With all the Swedes on the Wings, naturally I think he will end up there

The reason nobody has picked him is of course as you've said, that he has played in the lower tiers in Sweden. This is because he's a late bloomer, like many other European players. Zetterberg, Lundqvist, Alfredsson, etc...

He's too young to bring over already though. He could go at the age 24 perhaps to do anything productive.
