Hossa's defensive play gets elevated to a Madden-line level around here, but the truth is somewhat different. Hossa is a good defensive player and a good penalty-killer, but those attributes are found in plenty of other players on the roster. If the only spot for him is on the 4th line (and since he is a 4th line player, playing him anywhere else is not putting the team into the best chance for success), then on this team, he is far more suited to not being dressed.
Well I don't have a problem with Hossa on the 4th. And Carcillo (mentioned by someone else) doesn't send tremors of fear down my spine either. Between the 3 of Hossa, Hollweg and Orr--Hossa would definitely be playing (although who knows how bad his flu is). I like his size better than Hollweg's and Hollweg has not been the hitter he has been in the past. Hossa as you say can also pk--something Hollweg rarely does. Hossa has also had some success in shootouts. I like Hossa better than Orr and in this game I'm not aware of some other goon that Orr could match with. Orr has just been voted the second worst skater in the league--only Derek Boogard apparently is worse. Well if he's not providing the goon factor--he's not doing a lot at least lately as his +/- has been diving lately. All in all Hossa is more useful than either of those two.

If the team has a more physical presence than it currently does, I would agree with you. However, they do not and as such, Hollweg is more needed than Hossa is. Hollweg's physical play may be cut back by Renney, but he is still that much more of a physical player than Hossa is. And I cannot see Renney benching Orr.

And while he may certainly have more size than Hollweg, having it and actually using it are two different things.

I won't argue this with Callahan being sent down. Injuries early in the season for a player can potentially harm an entire season. Let him get more ice time and confidence in Hartford. Dawes deserved another look. Again.

I have thought that, but wasn't capable of putting it in to words. Well done

IMO Moore should have stayed up for the next game and make Prucha sit one. Maybe that'll wake him up a bit. However, IDK if they are allowed to have that many players on the active roster.

Would have liked to see more of Moore. As for your comments TB--they're a pretty mixed bag. Hossa is never going to live up to his talent--and the other two--eh. Hollweg can't seem to expand his game which is very limited and Orr can't skate. All of them are replaceable.

Maybe if we get Marian here, Marcel's game will pick up

Hossa-Gomez-Hossa

How would they do the jerseys?

Both their first names have the same first THREE letters.

MARC. HOSSA
MARI. HOSSA

HOSSA1
HOSSA2

I don't think an initial is even necessary with jersey numbers and all.

but on the Slovak Olympic team Marian's said HOSSA and Marc's said M. HOSSA

I'd throw Montoya in net versus the Penguins if Lundqvist can't go....give him a real test and see how he handles it.

Now does Renney have the balls to actually throw Monty in there?
