As for the game I never make predictions but since we beat Ottawa when they were on a roll I won't say a win is out of the question. Our guys tend to play to the level of the competition at times so hopefully that will help us out. Also, OV tends to shine in more traditional hockey markets and Detroit definitely qualifies.
I dont block anyone just cause I hear out everyone even if they are completely out of it

you clearly are not familiar with "Five Holie" Kolzig

Holmstrom is the ultimate screener. i think it was Bowman who told him he would have to do that well to stay in this league, and he has taken it to heart & excelled at it...

i predict long stretches of us not having the puck, and plenty of pick / interference plays going uncalled in Detroi!s favor

will be interesting to see AO vs. Lidstrom... would really like to see AO plow him into the boards on his first shift, give him one of those slow dumps to retrieve & make him hurt with a bone rattling check... heck i'd be fine with a boarding call so long as it was clean & mean.

Exactly my point of the prediction...lol

If he doesn't score, we have 1 win(and that was before my last prediction against tampa bay).

Before that game, we had zero wins when he doesn't score a point.

So my prediction was not all that far-fetched, although i admit i was just joking around...but some of them caps board members, that post here, hate me, since i told them last season kolzig is a bumb, hanlon is a bumb, and semin isn't better shooter then ovy is....Either way, those guys show up in here, and try to talk down to me, even when i am obviously joking, but its all good, i can't get banned here, for expressing an opinion, unlike the Ted Leonsis boards, who had me banned, cause I called him cheap.

You're so over the top man...that's why people give you crap. I also doubt that calling Ted cheap was the only thing that got you banned.

The guy who could squeeze wine from a rock? Hell yeah...cheap Abe was bad, but he started a lot of what's Washington Sports today. I'll give him credit for that.

Detroit is the best puck-possession team in the NHL. And they're also really good at taking the puck away. If the Caps want to have any chance to win this one, they have to more than hold their own in the faceoff circle and make good passes - those stupid little Semin turnovers could definitely do us in. I think they'll show sparks, but not enough to pull this one off.

6-3 Wings

I'm not entirely sure you should give him "credit" for that.

Most people know where i stand on this game. So there is no need for a prediction. BB is good at getting the players to think they can win. Ovechkin has never played in Detroit before and Ovechkin seems to play better agaisnt the all-star defenceman.

Glad it's Hasek - who btw has been absolute crap this year but it doesn't show up so bluntly behind such a great team. He's got one of the worst sv% (.879) in the NHL and seriously doesn't look good at all (okay I've seen him play in spurts on Centre Ice, but he's really looked out of sorts IMO). If you want to talk about goaltenders that just might be over the hill and picking up ugly speed on their way down, Hasek should be tops on that list. He's not the same guy he once was and may just be playing in one too many seasons in the twilight of his career. I feel pretty good about Hasek being in net tonight, Osgood has been the stingy one in Detroit this year. The Wings only allow 22 or 23 shots a game but Hasek still has a GAA of 2.51. He can beat without turning out a 30+ shot performance.

I'm optomistic for this one. The Caps afterall have beaten two teams during this season that were the NHL's best at that time and caused them to freefall after (Cane's were 6-1-1 or something when the Caps beat them, Sens were something ridiculous like 16-1). This will, or should, have the pumped up atmosphere of the underdog gunning for the topdog. I expect a pretty intense and enthusiastic effort from the Caps tonight.

3-2 Caps in a shocker, with 3 goals coming on 20 shots or so and Kolzig rebounding after stewing over his crappy performance last game out.

If we win tonight, it should not be a shocker considering our record of late. The detroit teams of yesteryear were much more a force IMO. The league is soft now. We just need to hit their pretty boys and play smart, and have Backstrom shadow Zetter tight and call him Flickä to throw him off his game. Detroit cant take the pounding if we will just bring it. Hasek is one of the few goalies we have had luck against in the playoffs, we just need a Bondra to get in front and bother him.

I just can't wait to go to OFB and read pucksandbooks' write-up about how Ford and GM cars suck compared to foreign cars. Oh the rival RedWing bloggers' replies should be priceless!

I'm a Wings fan and no matter how this game ends up.

The Capitals still have the coolest jerseys in the NHL.

It's just further proof that they've lost their precious hockeytown title.
