I guarantee there is a reason that Lasse is in the doghouse. Maybe he's a lazy ******* at practice. Maybe he makes mistakes you don't see on TV. You have no idea what goes on inside the organization, so second guessing a benching is just stupid.
When your team has lost 3 in a row, you don't bench one of your best defensemen. And as far as I'm concerned, I don't care how lazy he is at practice because he plays his heart out every shift every game. I can't take you seriously if you're saying that Kukkonen, a hard-nosed defenseman who gives his body up to help the team, is a lazy ass and that there's a good reason for him to be in the doghouse.

Exactly. I do like that Picard is getting ice time, but it's painful to see Kukkonen scratched.

and lapping up company line is a sign of intelligence?

gimme a break.

maybe Stevens dislikes Finns... there are absolutely tons of factors I have no direct knowledge of... however, you assuming they're rational or wise ones aren't anymore likely than Stevens making a poor decision with his roster.

Stevens knows exactly dick compared to those of us who aren't feasting on his swimmers.

1) You don't put Fitzpatrick in instead of Kukkonen.

2) You don't put Hartnell and Knuble on the same line.

3) You don't break up a line that's white hot.

4) You don't play a goaltender whose played the night before.

...

I could go on, but he's proven time and time again that he can only ride the coat tails of the talent, just like Michel Therrien, just like Mike Keenan, and just like every other hack who's a member of the retired hockey player country club. "He played the game..." and he sucked at it. It's time to look for a replacement before we're watching another post-season without the Philadelphia Flyers.

I just saw a replay of the Upshall penalty... weak, very weak. Ballard sold it well, that's all.

I don't think it ever made contact. Both players had their sticks up and Ballard sold it.

Kapanen plays, and he'd be easy to bench after some of the efforts he's given. I doubt it's a Finn thing. The vocal minority here naturally assumes that Stevens is ****ing up for every decision they disagree with. I naturally assume he knows something that the average fan doesn't.

If we miss the playoffs, then fire his ass. Until then, I'm going to trust the organization that is, by far, the most competitive and successful franchise we have in this city.

All those on this board that have won a professional hockey championship as a coach, please raise their hand.

that's being run by a GM that's never had success in the NHL... and a coach with no NHL experience.

there's zero reason to put great faith in either guy yet.

you want to have patience with Stevens, that's great for you. i'm done with him. he coached 70 games last year that showed zero coaching acumen or inspirational qualities... and through 30 games this year he's provided nothing to make me think different of him.

his only coaching credential is winning the Calder Cup with a ridiculously talented Phantoms team that was a borderline unfair talent gap between most of the teams he got to play against... good for him. at the NHL he looks like he's out of his depth at the cerebral level of coaching the sport... and it's BASIC crap.

Why even come here? Why discuss hockey if we have to be cheerleaders and can't question decisions?

hahaha... thank you for referencing this after my above post. it's a different world at the NHL level.

Whoever predicted that Hartnell would score with the goalie in the net, give him a freakin cookie!

Why is it still quiet? Where the **** is the crowd?
