He slashed green on the head resulting in the GWG in OT.

Green rode a guy around the board behind the net and Schutlz came from out from of the goal to pitchfork Green across the face. Took Green out of the play and Ovy and Schultz stuck trying to defend. Schutlz backed off, Ovy missed the shooter and Kolzig lets another win go.

I would say the beaupre-esque 5 hole at the end didn't help either.

We got a point and Semin scored again - that will tide me over.

15 games into the Gabby experiment.

7 wins
6 losses
2 OTL

This isn't the pace that wins him a contract and keeps McPhee employed....IMO. While better, it's still not playing at the pace of a playoff team over the length of a full season.

Regarding BB this is also why you don't jump the gun and remove the interim label after a brief winning spirt.

agreed. I don't think you remove the interim label until GMGM knows he is going to be back next year.

Why the hell didn't Green get up after getting hit in the face with a stick.

He's a hockey player, he should get up, not just lay there.

No more Green avatar.

He should at least stand up.

Clark finishes play with broken palet bone.
Gordon finishes game with broken hand.

Green should finish the play.

Gordon scored a shootout goal with a broken hand.

Green was bleeding pretty bad though.

I know it's easy to say from a keyboard, and hell I probally would have stayed down on the ice too, but he is a pro hockey player. I guess I'll be quiet untill i hear how many stiches he had to get.

Well man it really depends...getting poked in the eye can drop a top MMA monster. I don't know exactly where he got caught in the face but considering the shots that green has receive in the NHL I'd give him the benefit of a doubt.

How long does a guy have to lay on the ice covering his face before play is blown dead? I was furious, but I also don't know the rules on that. Was it because Schultz got him and not an Islanders player?

Who is BB going to call out after this one?

I'll give the benefit of the doubt for right now, depends on where he got hit and how many stiches, but for now, i'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

In Green's case....Till we touched the puck. But if Green was laying down in front of Kolzig, then the play would have been blowed dead right when it happend. But Green was behind the net and out of danger, so we had to wait until we touched the puck.

That's the key right there, imo. Removing the interim title likely comes with a contract in hand (albeit not a lucrative long-term one, odds are). From a financial standpoint, there's little need to add a personnel contract if there is serious potential that a change could be made at the GM position. I think Boudreau brings a lot of necessary qualities to the table and should have been coaching this team after winning the Calder Cup in '05-'06. All the same, I could see him getting swept out in a management overhaul unless he's a miracle worker the rest of the way.

This team still does not have close to the depth, experience level and will to be a consistent winning hockey club. By this point in the rebuild you'd hope that one or two more young players would be stepping up and really contributing. I guess you could blame the '05 draft positioning fiasco or Fehr's injury but I find it hard to argue that McPhee's continued employment as GM is the right move. The biggest plus for keeping him around is all of the RFAs that need to be dealt with in the next six months or so but he's hardly irreplaceable.

Unless the referee or linesman determines it to be a "serious" injury.
