Agreed. Simply eliminating his presence from the lineup gains nothing. If you want to argue the PP gets more diverse (b/c everything would no longer run through #68) and therefore more dangerous, fine. But the even strength units get thinner/weaker.
If he goes, you must accept that the team is not winning a Cup this year and most likely not getting out of the 2nd round. Trading Jagr will help the '10 Rangers (depending on returns) not the 07-08. Personally I don't see the team winning a Cup anyway, and I have serious doubts about reaching the conference finals; it would depend on matchups. That being the case, I'd have no problem dealing him.
