When did Pothier learn a Slapshot? I haven't seen that one in like a season and a half.

Kozlov looks so freaking lazy out there...

Jurcina battling on the boards, Kozlov just stands there, hoping Jurcina can get it to him one on two (he did)...then Kozlov loafs down the ice and feebly backhands it to the lightning

Both Caps goals have been basic, simple hockey - crash the net, and a slapshot from the point. The Caps get in trouble when they try to be fancy, let's see some more basics.

If Fleischmann could beat a goalie or if Semin could hit the net, we'd be kicking ass right now. I'm slowly becoming a Pothier fan, but please - he hasn't earned his money yet.

Anyone else wondering who are going to be the odd men out when Gordon and Clark come back? Cuz it shouldn't be Laing. My votes would be Pettinger and Steckel.

fixed

Though, one could argue Semin when he's stinking and Ovechkin too I guess.

Petty? Sure, for a while. Steckel? No. I'd like to see Brash in the press box against softer teams.

I must say RE: Oveckin's PP shift....I had never seen the same pointman get caught twice for 2-on-1's going the other way on the same shift before.

Grinders are playing well for us tonight.

Olie...has been typical.

No way on Steckel, he's the only other one on the team who can win a draw besides Gordon

It probably should be Laing. He needs to go back to Hershey before we get stuck with a Nyco problem. He plays with heart and blocks shots, but I'm not sure he could take Gordon's spot.

The player who needs to sit is Pettinger. Bradley probably as well. I think Steckel is safe because he PKs (and Bradley doesn't) and takes draws (and Petty doesn't) and then of course, Steckel actually has a goal or two.

Maybe, but he's way too soft. I like him too but right now, he's the weakest link. When they get Gordon back, he should help a lot with the faceoffs. I'm hoping they are able to ship off Eminger and maybe Pettinger - and then keep Erskine and Steckel/Brash around as healthy scratches.

I think Bradley is playing pretty awesome right now. Steckel should probably have 10 goals by now - he just doesn't seem to win those battles or drive to the net as much as he should. Anyway, it's a nice problem to have. My point was that Laing has outplayed most of our defensive/energy forwards and deserves to stick.

Personally, I'd keep Laing, and sit Pettinger and Fleischmann.

well, it certainly shouldn't be Brooks Laich.

He has quietly played his tail off for most of this year. I don't think he's ever going to be a top 2 line player or even a 3rd on most teams, but he's a helpful player who fills a pretty good role.

[Insert Marsh's usual complaint about Comcast's director & cameramen doing a less-than-satisfactory job following the puck here]

Nylander's passing has been sub-par tonight.

...which would be OK, except he manages to feed opposing forwards with speed coming out of their defensive zones on a regular basis.

Ovi-Backstrom-Semin where just out there.

I think ovi should play with backstrom full time.

Could Steck play each game as if it were against TB?
