I'm fairly certain that the feeling is mutual.

The 50's didn't like Ethnic people half as much as Toronto does.

How awesome would it be if Avery nets a goal or two tomorrow night? With the crowd booing him whenever he touches the puck. That would be poetic justice to little terds like Howard Berger. As for what he said? If he was on the leafs then thats what he would say about New York, its to stir **** up.

Avery is, at times, pure genius, and I'm not sure if he even knows he's doing it. Toronto is perhaps the main Hockey hotbed in North America, and what is every fan in Toronto going to be talking about until game time? Sean Avery. Not how to beat the Rangers, not how to win the game... Just the 5 second clip from his interview. How many seconds will it take for one of the Leafs to take a run at him and put the Rangers on the PP? Nobody's asking Gomez or Jagr or Lundqvist anything. That's what I love about this kid. He reachs out, grabs the spotlight and always points it directly at himself. It allows our less eager types to thrive without any attention and fly under the radar.

You also don't enjoy hockey-obsessed Canadians, agree that the exchange is not very good right now, and it's going to cost you a lot of money in tickets for people you don't even like?

Bingo, well put. He knows what he's doing. Hopefully the Leafs don't buy into this like the Toronto Sun is trying to get the public here to .

I made this comment on the Leaf board shortly ago speaking to one of your guys fans (Ranger11?? something?). Avery is Tucker seven years ago (? give or take ?) with a seven years later attitude.

Who gives a rats ass what Lappy thinks? He doesn't like Avery because of what he said about French Canadians after Daniel Gauthier concussed Jeremy Roenick. The French guys hide behind the visors after running around the hitting opposing players

You are one to talk.Your team employed Claude Lemieux who had no respect for the opposing players. Are you old enough to remember Dino Ciccarelli's comments about Lemieux after he destroyed Kris Draper's face"?..."I can't believe I shook that guys hand".Lemieux respected the game.OK

Side note: I hate C. Lemieux more than almost any player ever, but Dino is not one to be throwing around judgments.

Why? All one has to do is look at the records of the team with and without Avery for the last two years. Seems pretty black and white.

Agreed, not to mention the fans love Av-er-y. Why would Sather get ride of him. If it were a problem it would've been delt with by now.

Avery is truly the man. Simple as that. After all the Berger crap, I don't blame him at all for saying what he said. Toronto is a great city and the fans love the sport, but it's his job to get under people's skin on the ice and if he can do it off the ice as well, well....the league needs more personality.

Personally living 4 hours north of TO I don't like the city or the media much either. It's funny we always know when a Torontonian moved into the neighbourhood, their attitudes normally (not always) stink.
What I don't get is why he felt the need to insult every Canadian hockey fan. If you look at the books Canadians are a big reason he even has a paycheck. Yes I know he was kidding and trying to get a rise out of people but jokes can be insulting as well. I like watching the Rangers and I like watching Avery I think he is an integral part of the team but now I feel a little differently about him. And admitting to buying tickets for people he does not like makes him a little 2 faced to me. If I don't like someone they get nothing from me.

Considering how many people involved in hockey in Pickering/GTA/Ontario probably helped him to be the hockey player he is today, kinda seems like a dumb thing to say.

However, I wasn't one of those people, so that doesn't really upset me. Torontonians are used to hearing these kinds of comments from those outside of the city. I love it here.
