Pierre Gauthier impressed by Kastsitsyn

In this morning's La Presse

I've seen many players in my time but I do not remember seeing a kid with so many arsenal in his shot
Slap shot, wrist shot, one timer, he has all the tools to succeed; skating, puck handling and more, I was told he was one of the better
Talents from the draft and I after seeing him play I can confirm he's extremely blest and skilled with a lot of talent, usually we wait until the off season to offer
A contact but basically to evaluate him more but in is case we already know the contact will be offered very quickly…
As if he would have an immediate impact at the NHL Level Gauthier responded…in is case he will have to adjust to the North American style of hockey

Coming from a guy which drafted Sakic, Sundin,Lindros and Nolan……this is good news

Love to see Kats make it over for next year!!! Who knows, he could crack the lineup, if not he should do well in Hamilton!

I can't wait to see him. If he develops well, I think that we finally have found the superstar that we were looking since a long time

Sounds like this kid could turn into a great NHL goal scorer. I can't wait till we get him to North America so us hab fans can get a look at him.

Yeah, don't do that. We already had a thread or two about it. Jose Theodore is friggin' hot and I don't start threads about it. But, if threads about Danielle keep popping up, I'll have to start a thread about how hot Theodore is :p

Why do some players have to adjust to the NA ice while others are able to step right in. I mean, wasn't Zherdev on the same team as him?

I think he was being conservative and covering his a**. It would cause problems if he had said yes and it turned out AK couldn't adapt that fast. Either way I'm not too worried; Perezhogin is adapting well after a slow start...

I agree. If he'd said Kastitsyn could step right in, Hab fans on message boards everywhere would be penciling his name on the first line of our playoff roster this year.

What Gauthier said and I quote

Kast must adjust to the NA style and work on his defensive play as players like him usually rely on their talents to go by , some developpement will be needed

We finally have a bright future and something we can look foward to in the next couple years. And we cant forget players like balej, hossa, uquahart, perezogin, higgins, we might just be the healthiest club out there in terms of relieve help in our farm system. In Claude is the perfect coach for those youngster.

A year in Hamilton should get his confidence up. I wouldn't expect him to make the team.

Aside from Sakic ( 15th overall ) thse guy are all 1st overall pick . But it's still a good thing , Kat was drafted (10th) and many said he deserved to be higher .

Great things are coming up !!!!

when does the RSL season stops? It would be great if he could play with the Bulldogs for the playoffs.

It would be great if he was coming to play in the CHL next year.

Come on Doris Labonté, a Crosby-Kastsitsyn duo would kill 'em all

The AHL is the best option, IMO. He's got to get used to the style of play and the longer schedule. He doesn't need to play with 17-year-olds anymore, from my understanding.

Those are pretty impressive kudos coming from Gauthier. One could say he's merely promoting our prospect, but he has nothing to gain by doing this, really, so I'd say his assessment is sincere. I can't wait to see him play. If all the hype is merited, we could have a serious superstar on our hands here.

We can't bring him over until the summer from what I gather.
