Just be respectful. Cheer for your team. Don't be obnoxious. If any Isles fan messes with you because you cheer for the Sabres (respectfully) he/she is an idiot and i would have your back. Fans have the right to come into a visitor's arena and root for their team
There is a hotel bar across the street called Champions. I never go so someone else here has to give you info on it. There is a hooters over on Hempstead Turnpike that is pretty great for before the game IMO.
Hey guys... am looking for some information on this.
Has anyone showed up like an hour before game-time and purchased one of these? Could you even do that?
Reason being is me and 3 friends were gonna go since we're close to the Coliseum anyway and wanted to see AO against ya'll, but I have no money in my account or a card to buy online so fast.
my old lady and i are looking at the end of february ( 28th ) against the sabres.....she "likes their jerseys"........so thats the only team she wants to see. if we do this game, it will require driving up from baltimore on saturday morning. and neither one of us has ever set foot on long island, i dont even know where long island is!!! but we will find it. you cant hide a huge island from me!!!!
heres my question.....
my old lady is black. will she be welcomed there or will she be yelled at and heckled? i took her to two crapitals games and all we heard was "******* dont belong at hockey games!!!"..."this aint a basketball game, whats the ****** doing here?"
im not willing too bring her up there if she and i have too put with that ****. a 400 miles ( round ) trip just for her to be insulted? im not sure it would be worth it.

I wouldn't think that you would have anything to worry about. I've never seen anything like that at the Coliseum.
Enjoy your trip!

I don't think anyone here can tell you outright that it "won't happen." There are a ton of idiots in this world and alcohol at the game isn't going to help anything. But I don't think the possibility of an incident like that should stop you from coming.
Agree with KC as well, i have never seen anything like that at the coliseum. Definitely come up for the game. We need all the attendance help we can get!

Like BJO said, none of us can 100% assure you that nothing will be said because some people are ignorant and once alcohol sets in some people will same stupid ****.
But there is a black gentleman who sits in front of my seats for the past 3-5 years. The guy is nice as can be, knows a **** load about the Isles, and everyone in the section seems to love him. People are always coming over (ushers, fans, other people from other sections) to say hi to the guy and his wife (who is white.) So in the 3-5 years I have seen him and have been talking to him, I have never heard anyone say anything racist or rude to the guy. So that is just from my personal experiences.
I am bothering You from northern part of Europe and I am coming to USA first time in my life in next month. One of the things , what I want to see defenetly is NHL hockey. I stay 4 days in NY, in Queens and as I liked Islanders from long time ago, when Pat LaFontaine was in the team I would like to see them play.
I know now, where the Stadium is and I know the transportation, but my main worries are with tickets. With Ticketmaster is quite big fees involved plus shipping to Europe is also quite pricy. So can You tell me from your own experience, how sure I would be to get tickets from stadium before the game?
Games are:
Mon Feb 16, 2009 Penguins Islanders 2:00 PM
Thu Feb 19, 2009 Hurricanes Islanders 7:00 PM
Of course Pens are intresting team, but I dont matter - Carolina is also goodone. What You think about this dates and opponents and possibility to get tickets? And considering also of course, that economy is what it is and there is no money to waste.

The 16th will probably be full because it is a day game and a holiday. That doesn't mean it will sold out however. I doubt it will actually. But you can definitely get tickets for the 19th. The isles don't usually sell out their games.

Use ticket exchange on the Isles website under the tickets tab. It's where season ticket holders can resell their tickets to others. Tickets are usually emailed to you and the fee is only $2US for each ticket.
i have a choice of sections to sit in for an upcoming game and was wondering if someone who frequents NVMC could help me out.
my first option is 203, which judging by the seating chart, seem like prime seats at center ice level.
i also have an option of section 115 or 117, right behind or next to the penalty box. first or second row. these seem awesome to see a game up close and have a cool experience, but im afraid of the possibility of having an obstructed view, perhaps by the penalty box itself, or any media that is around there. does anybody know anything about this?

I would go with the 203 without a doubt. Its tough to see through the glass at the opposite end of the ice. 203.

Definatley take 203. Its the perfect height to still experience the game from up close, where you can see every little detail, and just far enough so you get a great view of the whole sheet of ice, and see plays develop. 115 and 117 are behind the benches, not the penalty box, and the lower two rows will be a nightmare to see over the players. Also once you go down to the 100 level it becomes very hard to get a good view of the play when its not directly in front of you.
Can someone please give me an approximate cab fare from Hempstead or Mineola to Hofstra? I'm meeting someone at the card show there before Saturday's game. Thank you.

Well from Hempstead station to the Coliseum is a $5/person flat fee. I'd imagine it's not too different to go across the street but I won't swear to it.
