Rob Blake at the Deadline?

"Rob Blake would be attractive to many NHL teams at the league trade deadline or sooner, and the former Avalanche defenseman said he would consider waiving his clause to go to the right team. "(The Kings) would have to come to me first, but, yeah, it's a possibility," Blake said, after Saturday's 3-1 Kings victory over the Avs. - Denver Post "

What do you think?

hmmm... that's interesting.

we would definitely have to dump salary in order to execute this

would you guys split up Staal and Rosie in order to pair Staal with Blake?

i would! but, we'd have to trade somebody like Mara, that way we can (yes, im gonna say it) pair Rosie back with Malik

the cap hit at the deadline will be minimal, right?

Does an aging nearly broken down slow footed Blake make us "better"? I don't think so.

Go to the LA King board, they can't wait to get Blake off the Kings.

Not ready to give up on Cally at all.

At worst he replaces Hollweg on the 4th line...at best he becomes a 20G 2nd liner who backchecks and be a good PKer

Again...too soon to give up on Cally.

it doesn't look like he'd be scoring 20G soon the way he's been handling NHL-play

Blake would still have $1.28 million remaining on his salary if he is traded at the NHL trading deadline which is 40 days before the end of the regular season.Blake is 38 years old.You think Blake will be able to remain healthy for 4 playoff rounds which is the goal for any team trading for a rental?Come on.This is not the 2001 version of Blake who helped the Avs win the Cup.

It may be that Callahan struggles the whole season. It happens sometimes to guys as young as he is. Over the long haul though I think he's going to be a very good player--though I think it more realistic that he'll eventually develop into a 15 goal third liner who can move up to the 2nd line in an emergency--who will pk and who will now again get some pwp time.

Blake is just too old to be making a major investment. Anyway I think we need to add more size at forward than to bolster the defense for the playoffs.

No thanks, id rather get Kyle McLaren from the Sharks or Visnovski from the Kings, Boucher from the Stars.

Well McLaren plays a totally different game than Visnovsky/Boucher. Do you want to add a defensive defenseman or more of a puck-moving type?

Blake doesn't help the blueline at all. he's not the player he used to be, so take a big pass on that one

well if our PP continues to be streaky and not be consistant then Visnovsky wont be a bad option but would cost at least montoya prucha and a first as a starting point. That might be a bit too much. I do like Mclaren alot, we can use a big mean dman that can play in the top 4. I would like a guy like Boynton or Morris from the Coyotes. Blake and Jovo would cost way too much as far as cap room and are overpaid and old

See, at this point, I'd rather just keep Hollweg and turn Callahan into an upgrade on D. OObviously as part of a package

Not neccessarily Blake, but an upgrade of Malik/Mara when it becomes availabale.

The Rangers simply have too many forwards between NYR and Hartford and Callahan is one more guy either notready for the NHL or not getting the minutes to thrive.

I would trade Callahan in the right deal. We have so much forward depth, why not.

Almost everyone is expendable to some degree. The trick is making sure that they're used to get a player who betters the team, not just to throw them away.
