PHX/NYR Proposal

NYR Get - Shane Doan and Ed Jovanovski
PHX Get - Jaromir Jagr, Micheal Rozival and Petr Prucha

Do you think this may happen? Will Jagr be gone before the end of the season?

Niether team does this, IMO. It's certainly a no from a Phoenix perspective, IMO. Jagr is just too old to fit in as a Coyote. He'll be thirty six in a month and a half. The Coyotes don't dress anyone over 32. Jagr will be retired when guys like Turris, Mueller, Hanzal, ect. are matured. Also, I really doubt Doan would allow it, anway. He's a total hick, and I can't see him packing up his wife, 14 kids, and working horse ranch to go live in NYC. It's actually kind of ridiculous picturing him there. Like the movie "the Cowboy Way".

1. Bad offer, would never fly.

2. Wrong forum, but you're new so you'll learn in time.

What does "7+ mill" mean? If you are referring to his cap-hit, it is 6.5 million dollars for the next three seasons. If you are talking about his salary, it is 6.5 million next season, and 6 million for the final two seasons. If you are talking about production, consider that he's on pace for a career year in points, and has hovered right around the top ten in scoring amongst NHL defenders, all season long. My guess is that at age 31, with only three years left on his deal, and being primed to represent Phoenix at the All-Star game, for the second time in as many years as a Coyote, and being on pace to score over fifty points, he'd actually be more interesting to other teams than posters on this message board give him credit for.

third exact topic like this in the last two days, and from the rangers, hell no, I'd rather have malik than jovos 7mil cap hit

Nothing heats up a slow boring afternoon like a Coyotes-Rangers trade proposal thread.

I don't think there's anything to get heated about now that we've got Bryzgalov. Not having to read Montoya's name in trade proposals any longer is in my top three reasons for praying that the Coyotes lock Bryz up, long-term.

Perhaps we should just make a Shane Doan Trade proposal thread...

This is one of those rare (ok not so rare, at least on HF) proposals where the trade makes no sense for either side. Definitely a no from the Rangers POV.

Wayne Gretzky, meanwhile, has a young squad in Phoenix that will once again struggle to make the playoffs—and could use a veteran like Jagr to bring the club together.

First, I think there's a thread on this article already...sry gotta say it even though someone else already did.

Second, while I am all for getting rid of Jagr in exchange for some young talent, especially if he's able to kick in his salary for next season. I have no interest in taking on Jovo's for the next 3-4 years and Doan isn't old, but he's not young either. Phoenix would have to add something more.

Third, disregard the second statement because this rumor is junk and if Phoenix wanted some veteran leadership, they keep Doan and Jovo, because both can be considered veterans and both have plenty of leadership qualities.

Say what you want about Doan, but you'll never see him represented by ass fat that needs to be liposucked in any Coyotes fans' avatars.

No we don't

Seriously. How many people are going to say he has a cap hit of 8.3? This trade was in 2004 and people STILL can not get it right!

As for this proposal, it makes absolutely no sense for either team. Why would the Rangers ruin their chemistry right when they are starting to click? Why do they take on the long term contracts that are huge when we already are paying 2 centers big money and have to sign a top 3 goalie in the NHL? Why would we give up 2 expiring contracts for them?

Why do the Coyotes trade their best player that is signed well for 4 more years for 2 expiring contracts that won't even get them near the playoffs, let alone the Cup? I thought they were trying to trade one of their 1-dimensional offensive defensemen, not acquire one?

You're not looking hard enough. There's about 10 worse ones every day. That said, I don't think this one works for either team. I could see Jagr getting traded for the right package to a team that urgently needs him this year, but Phoenix isn't that team.

And none of this even considers the fact that neither Doan or Jovo are going ANYWHERE they don;t want to . As both have NTCs.
