Question about pants

Hey guys, I've been wanting to pick hockey up for the longest time after being a fan of the sport for many years, so I went out today and bought the rest of the equipment I needed to play. However, the pants I bought, cover about half of the knee protector piece of my shingaurd. Is this bad and should I move towards a smaller size pant? Or will it be okay once I have the socks on.

Thanks for the help

You want your pants to be longer than regular shorts. When you bend your leg as far back as you can, the pants should cover all of your thigh and any part of your knee that your shin pads (knee prottectors) don't cover.
