If our goaltender depth is as crippled as it appears (for any reason), the intelligent thing to do is sign a veteran goalie out of a job for the short term.... Ya, that's right, spend some money.

What happens if Norrena gets injured? I guess Fedorov would suit up..... Unreal.
Hainsey would be the man..apparently he's the only player on the roster that has goalie experience.

If he was in NA, he probably would have been called up.

The reason they were the cradle of goalies is that they had Warren Strelow as their goaltending coach. He's been connected to more successfully developed goalies than anyone other than maybe Allaire. Unfortunately, he died last year. So I'm not sure their goalie dominance will continue. You just can't replace a guy like Strelow easily.

That's a good point. I had forgotten about Strelow.

I just read something about Leclaire being okay but Norrena is sick now? Is this true?

Yep, he's got a concussion. They think it's from when he took a Thornton shot to the mask during the game in San Jose.

Thanks... I think.

We were really looking forward to seeing him in Kitchener on Friday. Guess that welcome will have to wait.

Does anybody know the details of the rule that let the Jackets bring Mason up?

Does it limit/end his ability to return to junior if he plays while he's here?

As much as I'd love to see how he would fare against NHL competition, I really think his career development should be a higher priority than any contribution he might make this season. Or maybe I'm just a nervous Nellie these days ....

By the sound of things in the Dispatch, Freddie No is OK, and Mase is going to head back to Kitchener.

No offense but try reading the whole thread before posting.

Mason is here on Emergency recall because we had no more goalies. Hes not allowed to play unless all the other goalies are down. However he can sit on the bench.

As soon as we have 2 goalies ready to go, Mason has to go back to the juniors to finish out his time there.

No offense taken. But we have some people saying what you said, while others are referring to a situation where Montreal actually played a goalie thay had on Emergency recall, but were then able to return him to juniors. That's why I asked (or meant to ask) for the specifics of the rule involved.

Heck, maybe the rule has changed since the Montreal situation, and everybody's right.

But if the talk or Freddie being Ready is true, the whole question is ... irrelevant!

In the latest Cannon Fodder it was revealed that Freddy thinks his "headaches" may have been related to the horrible loss. He's feeling fine now.
