I wear them wont really consider anything else. The hot new ticket is high end skates that supposedly add performance yet have the durabilty of wet wood. Ive been on the same pair of grafs for 7 years now and I know guys that have been through multiple pairs at the same time.

Currently:

Helmet - Mission Intake w/ Bauer cage
Shoulders - Sherwood 5030
Elbows - Easton Stealth S9
Gloves - Bauer Apollos (the $40 ones)
Pants - Easton Stealth S5
Shins - Bauer One90
Skates - Bauer Vapor XIX

Sticks - Mission L-2 (75 flex) w/ Elias and Hossa curves, Bauer Endure (77 flex) w/ P88 curve (wish it was PM9)

Next week when my tax returns come back, I will be getting a pair of Vapor XXV skates and a Warrior Dolomite shaft (undecided between 80 and 85 flex). It's not so much that the XXV is amazing, but I wore the hell out of my old ones and they were the wrong size, and they are the only skate that fits my foot.

I tried on a couple pairs of 705's and could barely get them on. I've got goofy shaped feet (super narrow heels, super wide forefeet), and nobody carries the 735 which is supposed to fit me better. Although I will make some phone calls this week to see if I can get a pair to try on.

It does say something that nearly every pro ref skates in Grafs (or so it seems). And the guys that have them usually have them for years and years. But I've read a lot of bad things about the quality control and customer service of late.

...or picked a less expensive position.

Well, at least open hockey is free for goalies, so after about 400 or so open hockey sessions the equipment practically pays for itself!
