I hope its just a bad Charlie horse, he got hit in the first and left, played the second, and sat the third. So it doesn't sound too serious if he was able to play the second.

If you ask me though, there was some serious knee throwing on that hit though. Don't mean to be a homer.

Right now it's being called a contusion and he was walking on his own last night. My guess is the only thing to look out for at this point would be soreness that would prevent him from any playing time.

Where's the bullet proof codpiece? Integrated into Item 7, I suppose.

Well, that beats my plan to encapsulate each player in pillows and bubble wrap.

Anybody see Portys blog about our sissy arse players not sticking up for Z? Even though it was a clean hit...

......On the ice, they're way too nice, too, and this is unfortunate.

The most recent come-out-of-my-chair moment happened during the St. Louis game on Tuesday, when Nikolai Zherdev was run over by Blues forward David Backes. I wasn't at the game; Tom Reed covered. But, in this case, that's irrelevant. The hit wasn't absolutely filthy. If fact, it was legal. No penalty was called. But that, too, is irrelevant.

On a real NHL club, Backes would have paid. He would paid quickly and dearly. He would have been targeted -- right or wrong -- the rest of the game. The message has to be simple: "Zherdev is one of our guys ... don't touch."

Zherdev deserves this much, especially after the turn-around he's had this season. When he gets drilled and nobody responds, it sends a very bad message, both in the room and around the league.

If a real NHL club couldn't get to Backes, Paul Kariya would have been leveled. Or Andy MacDonald. Or Brad Boyes. Or Keith Tkachuk. Somebody would have paid.

Instead, nobody did.......

its true, we should have beat the snot out of him. It should have been nothing short of a Brawl after that...

I expect the Jackets to come out like wild men on Friday, but then it will drop off and go back to normal after the first period.

I'm actually bummed about tomorrow's game now, because I fear they'll spend all their energy going after the Blues and then have nothing left in the tank for Nashville, which I actually have tickets for.

Well, I had tickets for both games, but had to get rid of tomorrows game since my daughter has a floor show at tomorrows JHS basketball game. She is a senior, so it's the last one for her stint with the Big Red Band.

Bummer I'll miss the game, but gotta see my daughter.

Be there Saturday, though, for our 2,156th loss in a row to the Preds.
