What would you do?

i know we are going through somewhat of a rebuilding stage.
as gaineys team is not on the ice yet, he likes a big team like dallas had, a team that doesnt get pushed around.
now we are probly not going to see that team this year, as gainey is the last guy to be hasty in deal makings, and wants to know his players well enough before considering trading them.
my guess is our teams going to look alote diferent by next season, but very minimal changes this season.

but lets see whats worked for us so far this year ???
its quite simple isnt it its the special teams, when theyre good we win when there bad we dont. the reason we are where we are is becuase of the special teams unit.
This years team also has learned to get the puck out of the zone smoothly(well ussually that is)
those horrible seasons from before they were atrocious in getting the puck out of our zone, bad coaching had a lote to do with that.
this year our coaching is great, cj is getting our squad to over achieve.
certain players have stepped up there game this year as well, we know who they are.

but what have we all noticed thats wrong with our team?
no real enforcer, no size,
we get pushed around, our more talented players are small, even when we win they get pushed around and are phisically handled.
our even strenght goals are too seldom.

now we had these problems all season, and what a crazy job CJ has done for us to be where we are.
what do you guys think we need?, what do you think BG will do? and who would you keep on this team? who would you trade or let go?
no this has alote of fantasy involved, and no these 2 loses have nothing to do with this thread, i just got the thought that you best best BG is going to try to put a cup contending team on ice within the next 3-4 years, and alote of changes will most likely happen to this roster.
so this is a little fantasy question, what do you think gainey will change and do to make this team a contender?
what would you do?

i would absolutly love to see arnott here, but id take desanias out of the starting roster,
id get a lw'er to
zednik-koivu-balej
****-ribiero-ryder
bulis-arnott-ward

4th line needs too much tweeking. id put ryder with ribeiro ribs seems to set up ryder well in the slot, so id put em together on 5/5 situations.
an all finese all euro speedy first line.

Please. Do you honestly believe Stars are dealing their hands down best forward away? Hes only little behind Guerin in production, with games at hand, and leads the team in plusminus. Only Hossa has any value among those three, and since that team is built to get Cup now, the value isnt that high from their perspective. Stars have Modano and Turgeon, even less space for Yanic and Sundstrom is just another 3rd liner.

IF they deal him it would have to be for impact winger or Hatcher replacement - something Habs dont have to spare. Dallas will be making trades, but they are not in a fire sales mode yet - still within striking distance out of playoffs line. The players shopped are likely Turgeon Young and possibly Barnes. Stop kidding yourself.

yea it would be harder to get arnott thats for sure, but i think there most valuable forward is lethonen,
something like hossa + 2nd pick + future considerations = arnott
would be more of a deal.
*future considerations would be if hossa doesnt rack up at least 40 points in one season within the next 2 seasons then montreal will give them a 5th round drfat pick that year.

You're absolutely correct on Lehtinen, except he hasnt been much factor this season because of his injuries. Arnott, in a way, has taken his role as a top two-way forward ASWELL as being one of the few contributors on offence.

Stars are NOW team, with healthy lineup they are Cup contenders. They have less emphasis on future - team in totally different phase with Canadiens. Unproven prospects and draft picks do almost nothing for them.

If you think that Arnott would be happy here as a 3rd line center, you're in for a rude awakening. I don't see that happening.
