Brodeur's comments on Lundqvist

From the most recent issue of SI:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ies0114/2.html

Quote:
Brodeur generously lauds DiPietro for his flair and personality -- "I've had shutouts against them, and at the end of the game he's flipped the puck in my direction, which is cool," he says -- but his tone is distinctly frostier on the subject of Lundqvist. They crossed paths at the NHL awards ceremony last June, but Brodeur says Lundqvist never looked in his direction. Although he attributes that to a European temperament rather than old-time hockey nonfraternization between a Devil and a Ranger, Lundqvist's on-ice style is more problematic for the New Jersey goalie. "The way he plays the game is not something I like too much," says Brodeur, whose 96 career regular-season shutouts were seven short of Terry Sawchuk's record. "Lundqvist is weird."
In other news, Brodeur also bashed Crossing Over's John Edward for not giving him the proper respect when he bested Marty for the "Biggest ****** in the Universe" award. Marty is still demanding a recount.

Hahahaha

Maybe he's talking about their differences in style? Or the fact Lundqvist goes down early and deep in the net? Which is detailed in the following paragraph of the article.

Uhhhh. Yeah. His own ability aside, the team in front of Lundqvist will need to get a whole lot better and stay that way for many years.

I will always think of Marty as that idiot rookie who was laughing on the Devs bench in game 6 of the 94 playoffs just as Messier was about to score his 3rd goal of the game. Inferno's right, he's always been a schmuck off the ice.

Hahaha nice reference, and I wouldn't expect much class out of a guy who cheated on his wife with her sister.

The second this turns into a pissing match (which i'm sure it will), it will be closed.

Lets see how long we can be civil in here (to Ranger fans and visiting fans).

I never had any respect for Brodeur and I still don't. But with that said I'm not worried about what he thinks of Lundqvist. I could care less what Marcia thinks about us.

To quote the great Sean Avery, "Marty's always been a whiner."

He still won a Stanley Cup with his wife calling him every day before games to tell him who she was going to be "with" that night.

Gotta give a guy credit...

To be honest, I think people here are misconstruing what he said about Lundqvist.

i remember a brodeur interview saying that lundqvist is one of the best goalies in the nhl. goalies are suppose to be weird, no big deal, they are all headcases in some way or another. it's no different with him and the islander ice girls. who cares about his personality its how he plays.

Lol. Maybe, but the fact that Brodeur thinks that Lundqvist should bow to the almighty Lundqvist is something else.

And yes, he is seeming that way with what he said.

Just because DiPietro shows signs of respect toward Brodeur, doesn't mean Lundqvist has to. Maybe Lundqvist heard of his off ice antics or maybe he's just a competitive goalie who doesn't like the bum personality Brodeur possesses?

I really don't think he was bashing him on any other level besides the fact that he doesn't like his style of goaltending. That being said, I don't think they like each other very much. There was something in the NY post last year about them being at the same club or something, and they just kind of glared at each other. It was on page 6, so the truthfulness of that is debatable.

It was not his ex-wife's sister.

It was Melanie's brothers, EX-WIFE. Also for another FYI, they're supposed to be getting married this summer.

big effing whoopty doo. Gee, maybe Marty is a Euro-hating Grass eater. and even if he was, what do you care? Brodeur has 3 cups, the Calder, 2 Vezinas, and 4 Jennings awards. I'd be happy if Lundqvist could even get half of those.

I think the "Lundquist is weird" quote is kinda, well, weird. Just a strange thing to say about a fellow player. Its understandable that he would like DP's style better than Lundy's since his style is so much more similar to DP's.

Even though I personally think that Brodeur is somewhat of a jerk from what I've seen from him in the media and whatnot, I think this sort of thing is good. Creating rivalries only benefits the NHL and if this is the beginning of one, then what's so bad about that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if he wants to speak his mind thats okay with me.

Next Rangers vs. Devils game I'm sure we'll see this comment again and they'll make a big Brodeur vs. Lundqvist deal out of it, and that's good for the game. Any headlines they can create only benefits the NHL.

Brodeur is not the most articulate fella out there.

Thats all that needs to be said. Not slamming the guy, he's just vague

So what? Brodeur's not a big fan of Lundqvist's style. Not too many goalies are fond of playing as deep in their nets as Henrik is. You guys sound like Brodeur called Lunqvist a *** and told him to **** off.

god I wish Lundqvist hadn't been playing like garbage the last month so I had a leg to stand on right now.

But I still gotta say Marty sound like such a crybaby about not getting the proper "respect" from a young goaltender in this interview it is ridiculous.
