He is standing in quick sand, he has been living off *potential* for years and has yet to show he can do anything on a consistent basis. You could deal with him not scoring (even though he is supposed to be a offensive player) if he would play hard every night, but he does not. To add to the problem he is petrified of being hit, but of late he has at least threw a hit or 2 a game. My main problem is that because of his stupid one way contract he can't be sent down to the minors. Therefore, a player like Langfeld who deserves to stay will always only be a call-up player this year. Cut our losses and deal him, throw him in on the supposed "bondra" deal we are waiting for.
In the last game, there was a puck coming around the boards, up his left side in the Pens end. If he took two strides, he would have had the puck in a dangerous position. Instead he held back and waited, and the Pens player beat him to the puck and carried it out. He either was afraid of getting hit, or afraid to commit for fear of making a mistake. Either way, it's not good, and if Ottawa can't get anything for him soon, it's time to cut their losses and let him go. He has had every chance in the world.
