Rangers All-Stars

Will be announced at noon today, but Zipay is reporting that Gomer and not Lundqvist will be an all-star. I was really hoping Shanny would be there too, not sure he deserves it, but it would be cool to see him captain the team again, and on what hes done over the last 15 years alone I kind of think he might deserve a nod...Rozy should be there too...

Gomez is the only player that deserves to be there. And he's borderline.

While I would like to think otherwise, that's probably true, although I think if Rozy is selected that it would be hard to argue that he deserves a spot... he may not be playing as well as he has over the last two years, but he's putting up some very good offensive numbers and that is usually enough to warrant an all-star spot as a dman (see souray)

Agreed completely

Anything that Henrik did in the beginning of the year to deserve it was completely washed away by this last month or so of just awful hockey. Plus at this point I'd rather him take the All-Star Weekend off and go back to Sweden to be with his family.

Roszival is a maybe in my book, but Gomez I think should definitely be there.

Rozy's numbers are fantastic. But there are like 4 eastern conference D-men that have more points, countless more that are better defensively, and then there are also the "names". But if he actually made it instead of a guy like Timonen, I don't think it would be totally absurd. I just wouldn't expect it. Frankly I hate the All Star game. It's not what it once was. And I'd much rather nobody goes. I just hope Gomez doesn't get hurt. Try and imagine this team without him. God... now that's a nightmarish thought.

the way they are playing right now, i would rather see the whole team go to mexico with Jessica Simpson than play hockey during the all star break.

Not the whole team with one girl, but you know what I mean, get away, relax, rejuvinate.

Hey this is sorta about the AS game. Do they still have a Young Guns game? When do they announce the Young Guns selections? I think that Staal and Dubi could be a part of it.

Color me happy that Lundqvist didn't make the game. Maybe this:

A) Lights a fire under him
B) Gives him time to recover from the mental anguish of his father's surgery

I think a break will be a great thing for Henrik.
Hopefully we can have the Metro Ice goalies rock the ASG next year!!!

As I said on the main board, I'm very glad Lundqvist didn't get selected. Besides the fact he doesn't deserve it after his play the past month, it gives him at least 4 days off and maybe he can clear his head a little bit. The Vokoun selection was weird, but I'm not upset about it at all.

Congrats to Gomez by the way, what a bright spot in what has so far been a very disappointing season.

Its damn sad that considering his first 1/4 of a season Hank isnt in the All-Star game... let alone a STARTER.

Damn sad.

Gotta play a full season to be an all-star. Not just a quarter. Although him showing up for only part of the season is sort of like our skaters only showing up for a period or two of a game.

Corrected.

Anyhow, good that Lundqvist didn't go. Personally, I would have wanted to see Rozsival instead of Gomez, because Rozsival is better than Timonen, which would have opened up for a more deserving forward than Gomez on a forward spot, since Philadelphia have two players in there.

How do you know it isn't at least a big part of his problem? There's a lot of fact based circumstantial evidence to at least support this to a degree. Such as him being on pace to have played over 70 games. And him starting out fantastic and ending up sucking awfully bad. What would lead you to believe that it has no role in his play as of late.

Let's say Colton Orr had 1/10th of the hockey talent or mindset Lundqvist has, and pretend Colton Orr is a 50 goal scorer..

Keep with me here...

If Colton had 0 goals in 44 games, but was a former 50 goal scorer. Would you think he needs a rest? Or at least have it be the majority of his problems?

I'm just trying to relate to you since you absolutely adore the fourth line and Strudwick, but none of them are talented enough to make a realistic argument against yours.

With the black cloud flying over this team right now, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Gomez did get hurt. And if that were to happen, then you can really flush this season down the toilet.

No surprise to me that Jagr didn't make the cut.

"What did you wish?"

Shanny cursed us
