GDT: Flyers v Sabres 1 PM

Last meeting between these two teams, so bad blood may spill and heads could roll. Or maybe just Roenick's blood will spill, and heads will only be lacerated by uncalled high sticks. Who knows. Neil Little will back up Esche so that Niittymaki can play tonight for the Phantoms. Courier Post reports that Niittymaki might start tomorrow against the Capitals (on ESPN).

During an interview Roenick said he'd like to give Buffalo the ****kicking that they gave them, hopefully he means it and it's not just talk.

I expect a close game here.Buffalo needs this game and if they win, it won't be impossible for them to make it to 8.Philly needs 2 so they can get 1st seed.Wouldn't a Philly/Buffalo 1st round series be something?

Peters and Boulton will probably both be in the lineup so Roenick will have somebody to dance with.I hope JR doesn't go out and try to pick a fight with a guy like Afinogenov but a guy like McKee,Kalinin,Boulton,Peters or someone who actually fights.

Roenick fighting a guy like Boulton or Peters would be insane. Roenick, while willing, is probably one of the worst fighters on the Flyers. I don't get where people think he is a good fighter, he is also undersized, especially this year after dropping 15 pounds. Look for Roenick to play physical, however, a few big hits. If the lineup stays the same, both Fedoruk and Brashear will be in the game. Fedoruk has really picked up his game, and since the Buffalo game has played at least 7 minutes in the last few games and played over 10 in one of the Toronto games. The Carter goal is the first time in a long time I've seen Fedoruk make a large defensive error, he hasn't taken a penalty in a long time besides a fight, and he looks much more confident out there. He is pushing for a fulltime spot on the team.

Of course you would, because Roenick would have his ass handed to him. Roenick fights, but he doesn't fight well even against bad fighters. Brashear and Fedoruk are there to scrap with Peters, Boulton, etc. (I doubt Brashear will go at it with Peters after what happened last game though, although now that I think about it maybe he will).

Solid period by the Flyers, Esche has looked pretty good. Their powerplay has looked blah, though.

Slapshot from the point scored by Kotalik, bad goal let in by Esche.

Something about a Sabres game just spells BORING. Makes me want to go shovel the driveway. Maybe things wil liven up now that it's tied. Brashear doing a lot of talking with Boulton - who looks a bit scared. Kapanen is playing very well- two really good hits.

Nice pass from Recchi to Roenick- GOAL

Recchi and Roenick get a mini 2 on 1 and Recchi feeds Roenick for the easy slapshot to put them up 2 to 1.

Fedoruk and Brashear have a great shift, and then Fridge goes off on kneeing on a terrible call.

2-1 win, Roenick with 2 goals, dunno how his physical play was but he gave them a "****kicking" on the scoresheet

good win today by the boys, I wish I could've seen it but I had to work. seems like Esche had another strong game.

with the win today we are now tied with Toronto with 63pts but they have a game against the Habs tonight.
GO MONTREAL!

Esche gave up a very Hackettesque goal, but he bounced back after that and really shut down Buffalo, who out played Philly in the third. Good game for him.

I was actually at the game (section 14 row 11 seat 19 and the tickets were free!!!) and Esche looked real good except for that goal. He made a few key stops in the 3rd period with the Flyers up 2-1. Fedoruk and Kapanen both missed awesome opportunities. I like Fedoruk, but he has rock hands. Brashear also was just not very good. Why is he playing 15 mins a game? Officiating was pretty bad, Flyers could have had 4 PP's in the 2nd period. JR did pretty well, nearly had a Hat-Trick at the end with an empty net.

They played a great 40 minutes, and thanks to Esche, we survived the 3rd.
The FLYERS need to bury teams in the 3rd, especially when the opposition is down to 4 d-man!

You got that right! He'll never get a more wide open goal than that one - and he blew it, big time.

He was on the wing the whole game. And yes, Fedoruk missed the widest net in the universe.

Well, we were already winning, and besides, Fedoruk has really improved, I mean he got 9 minutes today. There's no reason for not finishing that goal, but hey, how much do you want from one guy?!?!?

Hitch later switched Amonte and Brashear, as he felt that Fedoruk and Brashear had been spending to much time trying to keep up with the other players on their lines and not focusing on what their game is, banging. They then had 2 really good shifts where they had a bunch of good hits, and the only thing that stopped it was a kneeing penalty on Fedoruk, which was really accidental.
