Zajac's longterm potential

Hey, first time poster in the Devil's section.

I was wondering what you guys think of Zajac and his longterm potential for the next 5 years or so.

I have him in a keeper fantasy league and have an offer on the table to trade him for some draft picks and I was wondering what I should do. We are only allowed a limited amount of keeper players so unless I project him to be a really good player I probably won't be able to keep him.

Thanks in advance!

He will always be on a line with parise so i say 20 goals 40 assists seems pretty reasonable

Do you think his decent +/- this year is a random happening (he has been minus in the past) or do you think he will continue to get really high +/- totals in his career?

I'd have to say he's good for 60-70 points a year too. Plays with a guy like Zach Parise, sees power play time, and is still a young player. He's still got some hands to develop, and on a team like the Devils he won't be allowed to stop progressing.

Definitely not random. Zajac's defensive play is a strength. Given proper linemates, he should continue to put up impressive +/- figures.

he is excellent defensively so that is no fluke. he is on our 2nd PK unit this year (i know our PK unit has been bad as a whole but its by no fault of his)

Well, being on the 'first' line does mean his line is expected to score more often then not and that does leave a defensive liability at times, but he's an excellent two-way player.

I'm trying to think of a player to compare Zajac too, but i cant think of anything.

I think he will be a 55-70 point guy, with consistent 2-way play, and PP and PK ability

Two way center good on face-offs. Best offensive potential about 60pts. I'll take it.

Zajac's long term potential... Alyssa Milano at best. I don't see him pulling down anything more than that. No Marisa Miller for sure... he needs a new haircut before he can play that level game.

In five years?

I think this is a very difficult question to answer. I could see him developing into an all-star (if he continues to work on the little things and improve like this year), or I could see him out of the league (if he regresses and plays like he did last year). My best guess is he will be a trustworthy 2nd-line player good for 20 goals and 50 points per year.

I would say him and Parise would be like Datsuk and Zetterburg in a few years.

That is a very bold statement...

I mean, I wish it turns out true, but really?

You don't think so? I think Parise certainly is already there. Zajac will be there soon if he goes at this rate. He is so much better than he was last year.

I think the more comparable version of those two is the poor mans version of Kane and Toews. Parise IMO is pretty much on Kane's level, but Travis still has a ways to go before he hits Toews status.

How long before we stop talking about Zajac's 'long term potential'? LOL

Good player and a keeper for the Devils.

Are you high? Datsyuk and Zetterberg are already top 10 players in this game, and arguably top 5.

Unless Parise is top 10, which he isn't, as much as I love the guy, then he's certanily not "already there."

Zetterberg, all-around, is on another planet than all other hockey players. Yeah, there's players that are better than him at one thing, or a couple of things, but at everything? The guy is like a hockey god.

He's already better offensively now than Madden ever was.
