I was so fortunate to have been in Madison Square Garden tonight, to see #2's jersey be raised to the rafters. The Garden was rocking from start to finish. I met the likes of Greschner, Stan Fischler, and even sat through over time chatting it up with Al Trautwig. I started out with seats in section 342.. but in OT.. we moved down to where my friends brother was sitting.. 2 rows behind the Thrashers bench (yes, Holik's head is as big in person.. as it is on TV).
The Ceremony was BEAUTIFUL. The cheers when Graves was notified that his # would be retired next January were amazing. Good for him.. to make the night better, we win in a shoot out.. which I have on video.
I've always wanted to be at an historical sporting event.. and tonight was one of them. If u were in the Garden tonight, there was no better place if you're a Rangers fan.
I also got to meet Boomer Esiason, I didn't get a pic.. but he was sitting a row next to me.. he was a really cool guy. Stayed the whole game... I also met John Davidson which was cool.
My videos and pictures will ALL be posted tomorrow afternoon.. for those interested.
Tonight was truly amazing. I looked forward to it all day. I have never been to a retirement ceremony and I dont have words to describe it right now. Leetchie was my idol growing up, i was a defenseman and i wore number 2 in honor of him and just to see that was really emotional and i teared up quite a bit. I was in 420 tonight and i just dont know the words to describe it. Heck of a show put on by the garden and i was proud to be there. Thank you for everything Brian! and im looking forward to Gravey night next year!
