Oh yeah, just fantastic...And why we are one of the worst TEAMS in the league..And with one of the worst farm systems.....One of these days A Ranger GM will get it through his fat freaking skull that NAMES mean didley sqaut...The only thing all those assets were turned into were a fragile cripple, a one hit away question mark (though he's fianlly playing good now), a total head case who can't play in NY, and a whining, pouting, egocentric panty waist ....Yeah, hear the lion roar! High risk/No reward all the way baby...He should have turned those assets into a better future or a consistent player or two as he was bumbling the seasons away, but as the Rolling Stones said "Star &*((*( Star &*&%....

Yup, just look at it on paper. Maybe you'll fool yourself into thinking the Rangers' management is ingenious.

One of my favorite Stones songs ("Goat's Head Soup", 1973). :p

What's apparent is that Sather is still shoveling and some are still buying.

Not raining on the latest "superstar" parade; Jagr is a world-class talent.

But, with all due respect, the post that started this thread is humorous and telling at the same time. Maybe acquiring names will continue to satisfy the thirst of some fans. In which case, Sather is doing his job splendidly.

"Not too shabby?" Is the goal to acquire as many marquee names as possible or to win (something/anything)? Most NYR fans I know prefer the latter.

Before anyone comes back with the "NYI s*cks" retort (they do, against NYR :p ), again, this post is not meant to incite. But as a franchise, is NYR not a parody of itself at this point? Certainly in a league of their own.

It's tough to keep count because my calculator runs out of memory when I attempt to add anymore.

Yeah, i hope so. I keep some faith because.. well I am a fan of this team. I dont understand how you could be a fan of this team if your ALWAYS negitive about EVERYTHING this team does. If we get blown out you are right there in the game thread making your usual, negitive unwanted comments. Do we see you there after a win? nope. Im not saying your wrong with anything you say..but you act more like a troll than a Ranger fan.

I have absolutely no faith in this team. Let me ask you a question? If you had a friend who promised to pick you up at 8:00 and never showed up would have faith that the next time he says he is coming that he will be there? Probably. He only did it once. Now, would you have faith after 6 times and say, "Well, i think he'll be here the seventh time. I don't see why not." Probably not. That is how I feel. You have to understand the definition of trolling (outside of it being a computer geekoid term that turns my face red everytime someone uses) is someone who's purpose is to upset people. That is not my objective. People, for some reason, have trouble with REALISTIC fans and pass them off as NON-FANS. I am sorry if my comments are UNWANTED but I feel the same way with some of yours. However, I practice freedom of speech at my end and respect what you have to say.

Ya know if only those trades equaled the playoffs.

You could put a bunch of glitter in your own um....poop..... but it doesn't make it smell any better.

lundmark, how can you be positive about this? who cares who they get!!! i only judge this team by one thing, thats WINNING. they have not been winning with the "get name after name after name through free agency and with deals that are salary dumps, not steals" strategy. that is why we are sick of it. this deal is just more of the same old crap.

dont ever think for a second that the fans against the trade are not fans of the new york rangers. im die hard and so are they. we just hate the way the team has been run, the players we acquire, and the management because WE ARE NOT WINNING!!!! THE TEAM WE LOVE IS A JOKE!!!!!!!!

playoff berth? this is one of the biggest problems with our team guys. all we expect is to make the playoffs. squeeze into the 8th spot. the objective of this team should be to WIN THE STANLEY CUP. JAGR DOES NOT GET US ANYWHERE NEAR A STANLEY CUP!!!!!!!! thats why i hate the deal.

I wasnt saying King Nothing isnt a fan because he doesnt like the trade. He is always so negitive about EVERYTHING. I know this doesnt slove problems.. but i cant find a way to hate giving up Anson Carter for Jarimor Jagr.

if it doesn't solve any problems, only makes our payroll higher, and leaves us committed to a player for another couple of years, how could you like this trade? i care about this team winning a cup. i realize its going to take a few years to build a cup winner on this team. this trade takes us further away from the cup in my opinon which is why i despise it.

There is no winning combo because there's no substitute for hard work. The Rangers, being the super star team they are, have no idea what the definition for the phrase "hard work" means. That's why they are who they are and it makes no difference how many super stars they hire.

What does the list look like when you add in the Dunham trade?
And who did those draft picks turn out to be?

That would be great if the players you received were still in their prime, but they aren't, so it's not their play that makes the above list look good, it's purely name recognition and that doesn't mean diddly squat on the ice.

Huh? Everyone of the players recieved have performed better then who was given up, I think the point is youth hurt us and chemistry as well.

Sure they may have performed better than the players given up, but Lindros and Kovalev still have not reached the expectations that most had when they were acquired. Everybody thinks "superstar" when they hear the name Lindros or Kovalev, but for the most part they haven't even been close to superstars while with the Rangers.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. I think Draftguru's point is the trades ended up bringing better players despite the teams lack of success and them underachieving.
