Are you going to re-sign Hainsey?

What are the chances of Hainsey (UFA) being available at the trade deadline? No offense, but if you guys don't make the playoffs I'd like to see the Sharks make a bid for him. We got Rivet last year for Josh Gorges and a 1st. What would it take to get an unsigned Hainsey at the end of February?

Odds are less then what Rumble is saying for him to re-sign. We don't even know if he wants to come back. He might want to take a look at the FA market. Howson hasn't mentioned wanting to talk to him about re-signing before the season is out.

But I think there's almost 0% chance he's available at the deadline unless we implode.

He seems like a guy that will take the contract with the most money, doesn't matter who it's from. I'd rather we go after Campbell in the offseason.

I'm not the GM, so I can't re-sign him to anything. If I were the GM, I'd re-sign him as long as its reasonable.

Foote and Rob Blake are possible rentals, but I get the feeling that Wilson would rather go after someone he has a chance of signing long term. Someone who really wants to play in San Jose. Call it the Guerin Effect: giving up something for nothing. That's why Hainsey seems like a better fit to me.

If Wilson will give up Gorges and a 1st for Craig Rivet, I think we'll be content with Marleau, Thornton, Vlasic, and Nabokov for Hainsey.

Ok, so long as Nabby knows he's second fiddle around here ...

Edit: (before a shark fan stumbles in here an has an aneurysm.)

I think Hollywood is playing some great hockey and really hope we resign him. Huge minutes, lots of points for a defenseman and solid +/- (at least for our team anyway).

I want Hainsey to sign a 4 year deal at the very least. He's a very underrated player who is going to hit his prime in the next few seasons.

Once again, thank you Habs!
