I dont agree with trading koivu, but he did play like **** tonight, that I cannot argue.

But still, I think we should keep Koivu.

i've been a supporter of koivu after all these years, but tonight he absolutely pissed me off. he's our captain he showed no heart, couldn't accept a pass, couldn't make a pass and couldn't even shoot the ****ing puck. absolutely terrible performance.

I was pissed at his game tonight also. However, I think he's in over his head and doesn't need to be traded. He'd be a great 3rd line center. Now someone go get us a #1 center.

Is it because he is a second liner??? Playing with second and third line players.

He's not finished...he's just not our best player anymore, he's not our best center anymore.

It's a tough pill to swallow for him, but it might be best for the coaching staff if they start playing him as our 2nd center.

There's been a changing of the guard with the Habs this year...

I don't understand? Koivu slumps in Jan-Feb every year...Why does everyone act surprised? He turns it up in March and has multipoint games from then on out.

It happens every year! Why does everyone always act surprised?

#1 that's a problem

#2 Slumping is is one thing...but he's just not playing well at all, not finishing simple plays. I think Higgins/Kostitsyn have done some good things but it seems when it gets to Koivu to make the 'play' it falters...

I don't think he's done...not remotely, in fact I think a change of scenery might rejuvenate him (that's another topic). But you see eroding skills with Koivu, and I think to maximise what he's got left, he's got to play with more established players than he has now.

Higgins has been absolutely terrible. Do you even watch the games? Or just wait for losses to make ridiculous threads.

true...and not that it would of necessarily made a difference tonight, but.

Why wasn't our best center on the ice when we had an extra man?

Koivu didn't play well, no doubt about that but even during 2-on-2 rushes Higgins and Sergei looked completely out of sync and almost always tossed it too heavily into the corners, turning the puck right over.

All 3 stank tonight, it just happens that Koivu mucked that simple pass reception in the circle.

That's the reason to keep him, but he can't be relied upon to get us points in the regular season.
As for the Koivu defenders, I'm one, but only a blind man can't see he needs a role change.
