Nothing is wrong with Higgins... he's playing to the best of his ability. He will likely never be a 30 goal scorer, and will almost definitely never score 40.

Nothing wrong with that though, as long as he keeps trying hard and gets opportunities they'll always be a place for him.

What is wrong with hockey fans is the better question here. So far in his young career riddled with a couple of unfortunate injuries Higgins has been more than he was ever expected to be. How is more not enough?

If Higgins doesn't crank it up down the stretch (mid to late Feb. on) then I'll be mildly concerned. With Koivu not having his best year and Ryder with his struggle and Higgins bounced from linemate to linemate, what can we really expect but what we've gotten?

Players go on streaks. Higgins and Koivu aren't playing their best hockey right now, but it won't last. Higgins tends to be a little bit lazy from times to times, but when you're not scoring, it's hard to have that little extra spark.

He has 15 goals after 46 games, which is slightly more than half the season...and he will never get to 30 goals? He already is on pace for that, and even though there is growing consensus that he is having a tough year. From my point of view he'll be a consistent 25-35 goal scorer for the years to come, like or not.

He's on a cold streak... yet he's still among the 20 best LW (production wise) in the league. Which would make him a first liner on 11 teams.
Actually 15 Teams because the 19 LWers ahead of him play for 15 different teams. On top of that, Higgins is better defensively than most of the guys on that list.

Actually 15 goals after 46 games puts him on pace for about 27 goals. I take it you're not a math major.

So... that's for first liners only.

The "last second liner" had 34.
Right now Higgins is on pace for 54 points. By your argument that would make him either the worst 1st line player in the league or the best 2nd line player.

Personally I have nothing against Higgins (although he his rather overrated by some posters). I do, however, hate when people make poor arguments.

Ok smart guy... do this math....30-27= ?? 3. My point is, he's having a bad season and yet he would come shy of having 30 goals by only 3 goals. Therefore I see him easily reach 30-35 if he plays with the right center and works like he usually does.

Now I thought that was obvious from the start, but I take it you're not a high school graduate.

You should try it some day, it really helps you know.

Me too. So, let me add two things. If last year the 90th scorer had 55 points, that includes about 8 defencemen, then the threshhold was probably 53 points.

Secondly, scoring this year is down overall from last year, so I predict that the 90th best scoring forward in 2007-2008 may finish with around 50 points.

I say this not only to better discuss Higgins or any particular players, but to counter the error often made of equating "first-liner" with "top star".

Before his injury last year he was Hell on wheels, basically. Anybody that was playing with him played great. He was Mr. positive, Mr. Invincible. People were talking about him as our futur Captain. And then this summer Chris Higgins was kidnapped by aliens and replaced by a clone that always look depressed and is streaky as Hell.

The main difference from this season's higgins and the ppg higgins on a 13 games streak is only that 1/5 of his shot went in instead of hitting the post.

NEWSFLASH -
  1. "On pace" doesn't mean anything when it comes to streaky goalscorers.
  2. Previous years point totals doesn't mean anything when it comes to streaky goalscorers.

I don't have a hate on for the guy, I think he's a great player. I just think that people should take a step back and be happy with how he's progressing. I also don't think he's a first line NHL'er yet, and I'm not sure if he'll ever mature into one. But you know what? That's ok. Not every player on our team has to mature into a first liner.

No, but ******** comments like calling him Jan Bulis certainly won't let anyone give you recognition as a poster.

I have a bunch of posts and no one takes me seriously.
