Not to give credibility to the speculation (there's SO much BS coming out of the Montreal media right now - even more than usual), but Ryder plays LW on the powerplay, which is really the situation in which he's most effective. Last year he was on the top unit to the left of Koivu and Kovalev. He was also dropped back to the point on the PP, in some games at the end of last season, and scored some goals with his wicked shot from there.

I wonder if Huselius is the one starting the Tanguay trade rumors. He is the one who'd benefit the most from Tanguay being traded...

Thanks for the scouting report. This deal may happen yet but Montreal will have to throw in a draft pick maybe as straight up Tanguay is a better player and is signed for one more year. Maybe a conditional pick - if Ryder does not re-sign then a 1st rounder, if he does re-sign then a 2nd rounder.

^^^ TSN is just getting ridiculous now. The best part of the article was them calling Huselius a "significant player"! Look no one is not going to admit that when Juice is on he is amazing to watch but he is not as important piece to the Calgary Flames as Alex Tanguay. Tanguay this season is taking his game to a new level, he is becoming a more rounded player which only benefits the Flames for the rest of the season and into the next one.

As for the "we'll see what happens" reply to TSN's badgering, it was the proper response as he has obviously seen just saying "No" was not getting through!

Frack, I'm really just getting tired of all of this, Tanguay crap.

Eklund's latest. Tanguay to the Islanders sometime tonight.
What in the world do we want from the Islanders?

I hope not, I'm a big Tanguay fan, I love having him on my favorite team.

But Huselius is a huge part of the Flames' success or lack thereof this season, far moreso than someone of his calibre should be but that's the way it is.

When Huselius has been on fire this team has been unstoppable and when he's invisible this team doesn't show up. When I checked in January the Flames had a .700 win percentage when he got a point in a game and something like a .350 when he didn't. I would rate him as the 4th best forward on this team but he's had the most dramatic impact on their success out of Iginla/Tanguay/Langkow and himself.

No idea possibly Trent Hunter ++ but he just signed a big 5 year deal so that probably won't happen.

What would you guys be interested in? We have a wide range of medicory mostly, but we have some (what I would consider valuable) assets with that said. Okposo, Tambellini, draft choices, Campoli(don't know if you can trade injuried players though), Gervais, Comeau. Just wondering who you guys would be interested from us

coming from an isles fan, they will never give up okposo

but we would def give up bergenheim or tambellini, and any draft pick thats not a first.

can we get nystrom in on this trade? he's gotta follow in his dad's footsteps

Definately Comeau and Okposo would be interesting but the Isles would never trade them unless it was for a major impact player like Sundin/Hossa. I think Snow would consider trading Comeau + something small for Tanguay am I wrong or right Isles fans?

Also OT: but I go to school with Bruno Gervais' cousin just sayin'

Yeah you are right about Okposo....he wouldn't be going back for a Tanguay, I think. Comeau could go, but with Tanguay being a year away from free agency, not sure. I think the Isles would be more interested in trying to deal a Tambellini package in this case, who the front office seems to just not like for some reason(with that said, last time he was on the big league club, he was somewhat invisible).

I would guess Satan and Fedotenko(who are both UFAs this summer). Flames make themself slightly better this year and freeing up cap space while the Islanders get a player who has a contract for next year

It is (e2), so I don't bother. Did an (e2)-rumour ever become reality?

Isles aren't moving prospects, especially Okposo/Comeau. One would think someone like Tambellini might be available. Maybe some Keenan magic can develop him. Nolan hasn't seemed very enamored with him.

Calgary is more interested in having someone to get them a league above in the playoffs. Its cup or bust for the Flames. Why else hire someone like Keenan?

So it depends on what Sutter/Keenan think of Fedotenko, in my mind. Plus enough to make the deal happen since Tangs is worth far more than Fed.

Just my take. I think the e2 is just that the Isles might have inquired. My guess is there are far better deals to be had from elsewhere for the Flames.

Supposedly the Toronto Star mentioned Pittsburgh as a possibly destination for Tanguay. What would Flames fans be interested in from the Pens?

Couldn't be happier. Even though I never really thought he was going to move, it was still an annoying thought to have in the back of my head.

Personally i'm glad .If the trade rumours were correct i don't think i could stomach trading our premier LW'er for the likes of a Micheal Ryder.

Thank God!!! There are much better options for a player to be moved, like Juice for instance. I would like to see Tanguay on the top line again anyway, although he is playing very well with Nolan and Conroy.

I would still think if anyone was to be moved it will be Juice and maybe Warrener, other than that I don't see anything else happening.

Second time Sutter has had to say this. Told everyone about month ago he was going nowhere and now again today. Seems the media has finally realized we won't trade Tangs for Ryder or whatever other scrubs they have mentioned the last 3 months. Now hopefully Tanguay can focus on his game and continue playing well like he has the last week.
