I'm assuming you mean most career games.

I don't know if its the most, but I understand Nick Lidstrom has never scored an NHL hat trick.

Has Joe Thornton ever had a hat trick?

pnep probably knows but I know Petr Sykora has yet to get a hattrick in 261 goals. Still, I'm guessing there has to be someone who has scored more without a hattrick.

Thornton used to score goals (almost 40 once or twice) but I guess he figured banking it in off pylons meant he wouldn't have to go into traffic areas and get hurt.

Or he became a back to back 90 assist man(A feat only Gretzky and Lemieux and Thornton can boast of) and became more effective for his team passing than he ever did scoring goals

Scott Mellanby was the first person to score 300 goals without getting a hatrick but he later scored one in like 2003.

The answer is Larry Murphy.

For those who have said Petr Sykora... He has had the most 2 goal games of any player who has never scored a hat-trick. He is still behind Larry Murphy in total goals though.

Mellanby was, indeed the first player to reach 300 goals without scoring a hat-trick, but has since accomplished the feat.

Two hundred and sixty-one. Larry Murphy had two hundred and eighty-seven. Sykora can probably pass him next season.

Would Cliff Ronning be there by any chance? I know Murphy is #1 but Ronning has got to be close and he may be a good bet to have never gotten a hat trick
