Substitute dead parrots for floppy rubber chickens and slushies, then it definitely will.

Excuse me.

Yes, Sir?

I was in the other day and purchased from you a floppy rubber chicken. I would like to return it.

Is something wrong with it, Sir?

Yes...you see...it's dead.

Are you sure? Perhaps it's only sleeping.

(proceed with smackdown employing said floppy rubber chicken)

----

(As played by Mogo): No, no sir - this is a Slushonist...you see? Slushies.

(Keenan): Would - you - laaihk - to -come back to my place, bouncy bouncy?

IndyMac failed yesterday around 7pm. The stock was trading at one point for 28 cents (friday) and then declared worthless. The 2nd biggest bank failure in American history....... This cant be looking good.

It's actually been coming on for quite some time. Of the top 5 mortgage lenders from 2006, really only one remains viable, JP Morgan/Chase. Countrywide was bought out by BoA. New Century shut down - party due to the credit issues and partly due to insider trading. Now IndyMac is done. It will be interesting to see how the OTS/Fed handles this. I would imagine they will sell off Freedom Financial, the reverse mortgage subsidiary. That's probably the only division worth anything.

IndyMac never really got into the nitty gritty subprime. They mostly focused on Alt A paper. A lot of the problems at IndyMac are due to liquidity which was compounded by a "run" on deposits.

We took the boat out yesterday morning around 9:30am.

Around 10:30am a monsoon struck, and we ended up getting completely off course. Of course, we didn't bring a chart because we were just going to fish from the river. So instead of going SW, we ended up NE. The rain was blinding, and we had absolutely NO VISIBILITY at all!

I tell Scott, "we need to be going SW! NOT NE!" He says he's going the right way. Only I KNOW he's not because the compass says we're not, and we run into a bridge that is north of where we should be.

He finally decides I'm right, and turns the boat around.

By now, the rain has eased up, and an HOUR later, we're in familiar waters again.

So we fished for a while.

It was time to take the boat out of the water. Things are going fine, the boys are in their car seats, and Scott gets out of the car to help me winch the boat up on the trailer.

MY CAR STARTS GOING BACKWARDS INTO THE RIVER!!

I'm screaming at Scott to jump back into the car, the car is still sliding into the river, with my boys INSIDE the car.

He has to jump into the passenger side since it's closest to where he is. He wrenches the gears into drive, then jumps into the driver's seat. Turns out, the emergency break wasn't on, and the ramp was too slick for regular breaks.

We finally get the boat and the car out of the water, and I am shaking uncontrollably. I'm terrified and amped up on adrenaline. Scott hands me a cigarette and a frappuccino. I notice my right ankle is stinging, so I look down at it, and there's a gouge the size of a silver dollar. Blood everywhere. No idea how that happened. It stings like a SOB though.

All turns out well. No damage to the car, the boat, and most importantly, THE KIDS.

It's our anniversary on Tuesday and we're going out on the boat sans kids. We're getting a GPS/fish finder combo and want to test it out.

Geez, Lola - make sure you're wearing your lifevests! Seems like you're going through one of those "when it rains it pours" kind of moments!

Good to know no one was harmed and the insurance companies (except possibly medical?) didn't need to be called.

Yeah, very glad you guys are all safe.

My dad used to always take my bother and I to the ramps on the intercoastal in Boca Raton when we were kids. I can't tell you how many vehicles my dad, and I when I got older, saved from going into the waer by bouncing on the trailer to give it traction. We also saw a few go in anyway and a couple that were already in when we got there. One was a brand new Caddy, was an early 80's model.

Again, glad you guys are OK.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Might need to go to the doctor to have my ankle looked at though. I can't walk on it right now because the pain is so intense. I think I tore through more than a couple of layers of skin. It looks really bad. I'm going to have my mother-in-law check it out for me first (she's a nurse). Hopefully, it's just healing...but I have a pretty high tolerance to pain and this is off the scale right now.

Wow Lola, looks like a crisis was averted. Glad to see you got out with minimal damage as opposed to what could have been.

Tetanus is another issue, so I wouldn't put off seeing a doctor for too long.
