I kept them in thick plastic (I forget the name) card holders -- not the sheets but the heavy individual protection.

The dealers had some sort of mechanism which analyzed each card, it was microscopic. They would then tell me that the cards weren't perfectly centered or a bit of the corner was slightly worn (not seen with the naked eye mind you). I mean, it was ridiculous to me but to the professionals they wanted perfection not something that was graded 97% (maybe 99 in his case). Anyway, I sold two at a good profit and price but not what I thought I'd get from reading magazines. And I did go to a few hobby shops, not just one or two. Maybe others aren't surprised by this but I was because I thought I had the ideal cards.
From what I've found, sports cards, especially hockey, are a terrible investment. Unless they are super rare and in mint condition, they probably aren't worth much. I'm sure there are still enough Gretzky rookie cards floating around that they aren't worth an extravagant amount of money. If you sold them about 5 years ago, that really isn't too long after Gretzky retired. I probably would've held onto them for significantly longer.

Doesn't matter. He can still warm up, but can be scratched before game time. It's happened every game since Stevens started this stupid thing. Kukkonen warms up and skates around, but then gets scratched right before game time.

How long must this go on? Stevens goes out of his way to say the defense was poor and they needed people to block shots, yet Kukkonen still sits when he would be a serious help to the team.

No ****, but from a technical standpoint he was turned around the wrong way so he had no chance.

Pens announcers just said "Downie is a pretty good hockey player."

I'm impressed.

Cote held his own, it'll come he's a rookie trying to go against Laraque, and I knew he wasn't going to smoke him, but he hung in there, managed to get a few in....good job Cote.

I do still love Kappy.

As much as I say he doesn't fit and he needs to retire, I love him.

he had no chance before they dropped the gloves. he has done much better as of late but that is the diff bewteen a legit heavy and a pseudo one. even though georgie is the best he stands no chance against him at all georgie would win 10 out of 10 x.

I'm pretty sure that's a contractual obligation now for all NHL announcers. At least they didn't follow it up with the usual, "Downie was recently adopted by the great demon, Lucifer himself."

Haha, at least.

They're being rather complimentary so far, but it'll change if we get the lead or if we get a few powerplays.

Yeah most likely, at least it's competent so far though and I tuned it a bit late, but I haven't heard Sid the Kid slurped yet.

Like I said a few games ago, Jones gets at least one great scoring opportunity below the circles every game and looks completely lost nearly every time.

If Jones gets that puck about 6 inches off the ground it's in.

Also doesn't help that he took forever to get rid of it.
