Would love to know more about Ramstedt. Is he a talented player who is just beginning to reach his potential or are his impressive numbers merely the result of playing with Grandlund and/or an indication that the talent level of the SM-Liiga is a bit lower than in previous years?

Granlund is a very exciting player to watch. It seems that every time he is on the ice that half of the opposing teams players try to hit him hard in the boards, but he keeps climbing up.

He has really rejuvenated my interest in going to HIFK games after some so-so seasons, okay fine, I'm a bandwagoner

He scored two beauties last thursday in a thriller versus Jokerit. What was interesting was that after the game when Granlund (2+0) was chosen MVP of the game there were numerous kids trying to grab a glimpse of him heading to the lockers. The majority of these kids were enthusiastic Jokerit fans, which suprised me. He seems to be the golden child of the whole country, regardless of the team he plays for.

Another 2 passing points today against Tappara for Granlund, 32 points in 33 games - not bad for a 17-year-old.

well granlund fell 6 spots in the HF ISS Rankings. i think its bogus to be honest because he will be one of the best players from this draft. 32 points in 33 games is not so good i guess? and his WJC with rajala who i am still very high on did nothing and hartikainen didnt mesh with them. if they would actually do something hed be moving up.

and dont forget he was injured before the WJC. i think he was out for a month or so. he will be fine. and would be a real steal if he goes down on the board. granlund rocks

Many times it has been said that he isn't a great skater. I guess that can really bring his value down in eyes of NHL scouts. Look at the smaller skaters with succesful NHL careers. They are usually lighting fast skaters (St. Louis, Andy McDonald). You need a big frame to be able to overcome the lack of wheels (Penner, Heatley). Tavares is said to be a lacking skater and he has already become marginalized (of course with his talent he is more likely to overcome the problems than not). For Granlund's draft position to reflect his obvious talent, I'd be content if he gets picked around top 15.

Mikael Granlund is better than his brother Markus. Maybe, you have checked this link.

He did indeed and played better than his stats might suggest. Laid plenty of solid hits, backchecked well, made a couple of really great passes and proved to be very difficult for Lukko players to contain.

Granlund with 2 more goals against HPK the other night. He is close to breaking the assist record which is currently held my Pekka Peltola (28+30) all the way back from 1989. With his next one he will surpass Olli Jokinen on that list.

Olli Jokinen holds the record for the youngest player ever to record 40 pts in the SM liiga, looks like Granlund is set to take over that record as he only needs one more point and is 3 months younger than OJ when compared to the time.

Granlund's current record stands at 13-26=39 pts (40 GP).

NICE shootout goal, in his first adult's nationals game, a game winner of course...

Jussi Jokinen failed...

Granlund and Vatanen played solid hockey.

Unfortunately they played solid hockey only for two periods.

It is as I feared. Their game sense and mental toughness are up on par with full-grown men, but their physics arent - yet. It was a flashy SO goal, but unfortunately we're not going to have much use for a player who manages to keep his engine going only forty minutes in regulation when the game lasts sixty.

Granlund will be a big joy for the followers of Finnish hockey for years to come - of this I have no doubt - but is he ready yet? I don't think so, but luckily I'm also not the one making the call.

whole team played solid hockey for 2 periods. 2 players cant do anything when whole team suck.

They can't. Especially if they're a pair of kids. But that doesn't change the fact our young stars seemed particularly overwhelmed and more or less vanished off the picture in the 3rd.

Don't get me wrong. I applaud their showing and think they're far from being lost promises. It's pretty obvious we're dealing with a pair of future franchise players here. But they're not ripe cherries for picking - yet. At least according to my assessment.

Interesting article

Hadn't seen Red Line Report but a lot of interesting information. Also mentions goalie Lars Volden of Norway. Rumor has it he's headed to Finland this season.
