January 24th = the New December 23rd

Voilą, tonigh is an important date, remember it... the day we overcame the almost impossible. Before tonight, I thought the team was great but not resilient, they proved me wrong. Around the league, everybody is talking about the passing game, our defensemen, our goalies, our Powerplay, OUR MONSTER PERFORMANCES! Before Atlanta, it was almost impossible to come back in a game, now... it seems like we are gonna become the come back kids of last year. Everything that was working last year is still working, but our problems are fixed. We are one top-4 defensemen + 1 sniper away from being a true force.

Bacardie tastes like gold, so does this victory.

Meaning that December 23rd was the "point tournant" of the season, like tonight was maybe the turning point this year..

What I think he is saying is that

January 24th = December 23rd because they are (in his opinion, we don't know yet) turning points in the season

If montreal can keep on winning for 6-7 games out of 10, this will be seen as one of the turnarounds, just because of how

a) big a monkey the Devils are (not beaten since 2002... that's huge)
b) a huge comeback and resilient win

Last year December was the wake up call to a smoke and mirrors season. This year the team has had struggles but held on and now they are turning the corner to be one of the top teams in the league. This is fact I haven't seen this sort of moxy since '93. I'll say that again if I have to but it's true dat.

I think this may be a turning point in the recent history of the franchise. At the beginning of last season we were winning games we had no business doing so. The games from December 23 onwards proved how ephemeral our success was (4-8-0 after Jan 1st compared to 9-2-2 this season). This year things are remarkable different. There were a few games early in the season we should have won (Florida, for e.g.). Moreover, the transition games has improved significantly, the defense is much better (Gorges and Hamr are big upgrades defensively over Souray and Rivet), and we are getting a lot of goals even at ES, a stat we were miserable in last season.
